Well, not so much the recipe, but the amounts etc. to comply with SW style.

I have the minced lamb and all relevant bits and bobs - would it be best to do for 4 and freeze some?

Normally my shepherd's pie wouls just have been a huge amount, but now I want the correct amounts:)

Thanks

Steve

I do a syn free version that is kind of made up to suit my taste.

it serves 6 people and I make mine with:

frylight
pack of extra lean minced beef
1 onion
1 400g tin of chopped toms
water (fill the used tomato tin and use that)
3 beef oxo cubes
chopped carrots
frozen peas
(can chuck in sweetcorn and/or chopped greenbeans too)
teaspoon of mustard powder
teaspoon of paprika
salt & pepper
Potatoes
fat free fromage frais

I frylight a pan then brown the mince and onion. Then add everything else (except the spuds and fromage frais!) and cook for 30 mins. Boil the spuds in a seperate pan and when cooked through, drain and mix in salt pepper and fat free fromage frais then leave to one side. pour meat into a casserole dish, top with the mashed potatoes. run the back of a fork along the mash to smooth it out and make track marks. cook in the oven on a low/medium heat for another 20 minutes.

the 3 oxo cubes make it very meaty tasting and quite strong but we like that... if you dont think you will just use 2.

hope this helps.

It was more the actual amount of mince, potatoes etc. I know exactly how to make, not sure of the correct portion size for SW and freezing etc.

When cooking away from SW it is merely a case of all the decadent stuff if you know what i mean;)

I suppose it depends what plan you are following - I made a cottage pie last night, with a pack of extra lean beef between 3 of us. It was free on EE, and just made sure it was served with superfree veg (there was also a lot of veg in it as well). I had a decent sized serving.

Surely the point of SW is it is free, so eat enough to satisfy your appetite without feeling stuffed? If you are on red or green, then you would need to portion control the meat or potatoes though.
