Hi,

What is the difference between fromage frais and creme fraiche? Which tastes creamiest?

What does quark taste like?

Is Asda's low fat cheese tub with garlic and herbs free?

Is there any flavoured cottage cheese that's syn free?

Sorry to bombard the board with questions but don't have a food directory yet!

I don't use much fromage frais as I find some can taste bitter. That said I am learning to put it onto fruit to add some syn free dairy. I normally use creme fraiche to make sauces, tried this with fromage frais and it ended up a curdled mess. I find the creme fraiche much creamier. Can't help with the Asda products or the cheese, but if you add you own fruit to plain cottage cheese, would this be synned?

Have had a quick look at my f/o book and it says some flavoured cottage cheese has syns, do you have a particular one in mind, maybe I can check for you?

Hiya

Fromage frais to me is nicer because the one I buy is syn free lol

Quark tastes like creamcheese that hasn't been seasoned yet, and it's got a bit of a drier texture. You could add garlic & herbs to make a syn free version of the Asda one.. here is the syns

Asda Good for You, Soft & Creamy Extra Light Cheese with Garlic & Herb, 50% Less Fat 28g

Asda Lighter Soft Cheese with Garlic & Herbs, 35% Less Fat 28g

Asda's onion & chive cottage cheese is free, the pineapple one has 1 syn per 100g, the red pepper & sweet chilli one is 1/2 syn per 100g.

Hope this helps x

Creme fraiche wont be free, low fat fromage frais is.

per TBSP normal creme fraiche is 3 syns
reduced fat 1.5syns
weight watchers low fat 1/2 syn.

The trick with fromage frais in cooking is to make sure you add just before serving, and to make sure it is off direct heat. Its not a lover of being cooked, but i add it to my currys just as i serve and makes it all creamy.
