Anti depressants make you gain weight?

did anyone find this?

I know this probably sounds stupid, but i've been on and off them for years, but i was always very thin before and never gained weight even if i ate crap constantly, but since i've had a baby its all different.

Has anyone put on weight whilst taking them?

Yes! I've been on both citalopram and flouxetine and both caused me to go from feeling starving for hours whatever I ate, to not feeling hungry at all. It was horrible

I'm currently on Citalopram, have been for 6 months, but i haven't found any change in my appetite or weight...?

I got put on beta blockers for blood pressure, and those made my appetite soar. Fortunately I was able to resist the hunger and stay on my diet, and after a while I didn't need them any more cos I guess I had reduced my own BP by reducing salt and calories.

They can slow your metabolism down. So even if you don't eat more for, example them giving you an increased appetite, you need to work harder to lose weight due to the decreased metabolic rate.

Also having the baby could have totally change your body aswell. xx
