Hi everyone,

I'm total new to Calorie Counting, and I'm using my fitness pal.

I start tomorrow but I'm dead nervous I've never done calorie counting before!

Does anyone have any tips that could help me out?

Also I'll probs need some support to, because my OH is lovely but he isn't very good at supporting me through weight loss!

GL to all!

Welcome.:)

Make friends with your kitchen scales, and measuring spoons. You'll be using them a lot.;)
I carry a note book, pen and small calculator in my bag. The notebook to log what I eat when I'm away from my 'puter. And the calculator to work out calorie values on packets while shopping.

Wow that's a great idea!! thanks hun!

I have 2 sets of measuring spoons and 2 sets of scales! How sad of me!

Welcome and good luck. My advice would be find what works for you and go for it. Some people have most success by being really strict and counting everything consumed. Some also work out what calories they burn so they know how much of a deficit they have each week.

I like being flexible, some days I'll eat 1000 cals some days I go up to 2000, when I work it out at the end of the week I average out at 1300 a day. At the moment that works for me, the good thing about calorie counting is that I know if it stops working I can mix things up a bit and kick start the weight loss again.

Once you've done this for a few weeks/months you will have a good idea how much you can eat and how much of certain foods you are allowed. Then you can experiment a bit and have some more flexibility.
