Hi everyone!!

Well i'm new to the forums, although have been reading them for a while, and i have to say i am loving the brides to be forum!! So i came straight here to say well done everyone and congratulations :)

I myself am getting married on 28th May 2011 and am currently doing Slimming World to get myself down to my ideal (ish!) size.

I started off the beginning of 2010 at 18st 3lb, am currently around the 14st mark, and aim to be around 12st by the time the wedding comes around (and if i can get any lower then hooray!) I have never been tiny and don't expect to be but i know i have to lose weight for my own health and happiness!

So i suppose my reason for posting is... I am currently searching for a wedding dress, but i'm nervous about buying one now, if i'm just going to lose another 2 stone by the time of the wedding. If they have to take it in too much, does it ruin the look of the dres??

I know i need to look into buying my dress at some stage soon but i am so nervous about going out there and getting it!! Does anyone else have these worries?

Hey!!!
You mirror my feelings exactly!
Im getting married in August 2011 and i have just over 2 1/2 st to lose. My bridal boutique ordered me a size 16 wedding dress, but im pretty sure that by the time of the wedding if i have lost my weight I will probably be a size 12. They've told me taking it in will be no problem, but to me its not ideal. At the same time my worst nightmare would have been paying for a really expensive dress and not being able to fit into it!!!!
So i just ordered the 16 anyway.

Im having laser lipo done this week and im on slimming world so looking forward to losing the inches!

Really you should go out and look for the dress soon. Some of them take up to 6 mths to make if your having one made to measure.

This is my wedding dress above... suits my shape, pulling in the waist. Should only have to take in the top bit.
You need to enjoy this moment and don't let worries overwhelm you. Its so much fun and i always think, even if i lose no weight it will still be the happiest day of our lives cause we're getting married to the people we love, so keep it in perspective x x x

Thank you so much for your message, and i totally agree with your last statement, whatever happens it will be the best day of my life! :)

I have no bought my dress, i went out looking for it this week and found a design i loved in a wedding dress outlet. Therefore typically they only had one size of the dress i loved which was a size 14. It's lace-up at the back and the lady said i would only need to lose a stone for the two bits of material to meet, and if i lost any more than a stone (which i am hoping to) then all i need to do is pull the laces together. But it was an absolute bargain so i'm not complaining!!

You would have thought now i have my dress my motivation for losing weight would go up, but i'm being very lazy with it at the moment!! How are you doing with it?

This is what i love about these forums, no matter what situation you are in there is bound to be someone else in exactly the same place!!!

Hiya girls :) I too am getting married next year - its been really stressful because it was supposed to be in 2012 but my family in oz weren't able to make it, then it changed to 2013, so i thought - plenty of time!! Now it is full steam ahead for July 21, 2011!!! So apart from still having to do everything from finding a venue to working out colour schemes, i am also on the hunt for my dream dress.

At the moment i am 16-14, but i hope to be 10-12 by the wedding. I'm thinking of ordering the dress by January as that would be 6 months exactly, and hope that is enough time... In the meantime my goal is to lose as much as i can between now and January so that i only have to order one size smaller than what i will be then, if that makes sense? Have already been to one shop and found some really lovely dresses but none that made me think - WOW - so hopefully with a lighter me i will find the perfect dress... Anyways, good lucky girlies!! xx

I got my dress too, the one in the shop was a size 18 which fit perfectly, so thats what the lady ordered.

She says it will be fine to alter down if necessary - hope it is necessary! Hoping to be a 12-14 by the wedding, more likely a 14, don't think I've been a 12 since I was 12!!

K xx
