Hi,

I am on slimming world and am going out for lunch at zizzi with collegues tomorrow. I know they will be having starters and mains. Does anyone now the best things to pick on the menu? i dont eat meat but do eat fish. Ideas gratefully received!:)

I've had a good SW meal at Zizzi's!

I had the Insalata Mista for starters without the olive oil. They brought me the balsamic vinegar so I could go to town on it :D

I had the Spaghetti Pomodoro for main without the mozzarella. Basically ended up with me having a meal that used up only my healthy extra Bs, it was great!

I hope you have a great evening out :)

Mmmmm, sounds genious!! Thanks, that was an easy decision! I have only just started to do the diet - is it better to have a pasta dish rather than a salad say? Is it all to do with the type of thigs you eat together?

There is an Eating out section within the SW forum, if you post there someone will probably be able to help. You can also search to see if Zizzis has been mentioned before

We went to Zizzis and I'm afraid I went right off the rails with 2 pasta dishes and some very nice bruschetta. My wife did have a nice chicken dish (pollo con pesto) with vegetables which in retrospect I should have had instead!

I would say yes. Salads often have things like avocado, sundried tomatoes, nuts and seeds in them. Also there is the olive oil if you choose to have it. Salad dressings can be awful for syns!

I think it's best to stick to pasta in a tomato sauce, none of the creamy stuff. That way you've got the free food with all the tomatoes and veg, and just some syns, healthy extras with any cheese or oil.

Hehe Tim13 - soooooo know what you mean! I awlays go with the best intentions and end up with something naughty!!! but i have my halo firmly in place for tomorrow, pasta and tomato sauce it is! :) and ill go on the sw forum, good shout! Thanks for all your help and support guys, yumyum!

The menu is on the website so you can get a good idea of what you might have before you go. The portion sizes are quite generous if you have to take that into account.

The specials board is always a distraction though!!

Yup, risotto often has wine and cream in it. Also butter can be used to fry the onions and garlic :(

You can always ask them how they prepare it!

I used to eat so much fat and sugar that I didn't notice when a dish I was served in a restaurant was cooked with a lot of butter/cream etc. Since cutting back I can tell when tasting it, but by then it's a bit late.

I was in France recently on business and we went for a meal with our French hosts. It ended up being 6 courses, every one of which had dairy procuct in it (local speciality). By the time the third course had come out I had decided to run with it, have some red wine as well and sort out the consequences later!!

Thankfully the weight came off quite quickly when I got back.

I went to zizzi last week and had the spaghetti pomodoro with the mozzarella and just counted that as my hea.
also to up your veg in take you can get a side order of green beans
