I've just started out and enjoying that feeling of being totally motivated. Lost 5lb in 2 weeks going it alone and had a 100% week since joining group on Wednesday. Feeling uncharacteristically competitive about my "fabulous first week" and decided to record what's motivating me; to put it out there so if I need reminding in future it will help me stay focussed. Would love to hear what's motivating everyone else?

  • To do this before I reach the big 4-0 next year (joined my first slimming club at age 20… do I really want to have spent half my life on, or if not then feeling like I should be on, a diet?)
  • Because knowing I look and feel good boosts my confidence – honestly believe the positive impact of confidence in all parts of your life cannot be overstated
  • To be a good example to my baby boy and to encourage him to have a healthy attitude towards food
  • So that when my little man wants to run round the park/play football etc I can join in… my weight/lack of fitness now means either I physically won’t be able to or I’ll feel too self-conscious.
  • So I can happily look back and enjoy photos of all the fab things I get to do instead of avoiding the cameras all the time (or insisting on shoulder-up shots only which means any photos that I do like of myself look pretty much the same and you have no idea where they were taken anyway!).
  • So I can wear the styles I love, not just the clothes that fit (why is it that when I envisage my perfect outfit for a particular occasion, I seem to think I’ve turned into Kate Moss!)
  • Related to above, be able to buy an off-the-peg size 12 and know its going to fit
  • For my health (although vanity probably rates higher in the priorities… is that very irresponsible!?)
  • To take advantage of a perfect window of opportunity – for a limited time only – I’m doing much less drinking/socialising whilst I’m breastfeeding. I know I can maintain lifestyle and weight so if I lose the weight now its should be easy to maintain
