There is no sincerer love than the love of food.

I started slimming world online today, after a failed week of starvation and confusion on Closer Diets. This is because I bought some new bathroom scales and found out that I'm the fattest gay in the village. I'm sure the new scales weigh heavy - I've had a run of back luck with that actually, this is the third pair that've said I'm two stone heavier than I think I am...
I have been very very hungry all week, mainly because I spent the week before eating chips and drinking beer in Gran Canaria. Plus the ladywife lost no weight at all and is teetering on the brink of a crisps and red wine self-pity relapse.
I'm amazed to see that there are no forums on the food optimising website, their reason seems to be that 'people might say bad things' - which confused me because that's always my favourite bit! So have joined Minimins, but I am finding it a bit despotic so far. After much logging in and pressing things, I read a helpful post which explained that I can't do anything until I've passed some sort of endurance related initiation process. Twenty posts before I can post a little picture of myself? Why? What on earth is that about?
I printed out my free foods and made potato and spinach curry for lunch - with an extra portion for ladywife ready for the freezer in case I have to go to Manchester for half the week for a job. Backfired when ladywife got hold of the food list and realised she can eat as much as she wants and ate the extra portion.
I'm sure I'll get the hang of it, but I've only just washed up from lunch and now I have to go and cook dinner, which is quorn fillets and rice. Small mercy is that I can drink gin on this diet, that was mostly definitely not allowed by Closer.

Welcome London Fielder - hope you find Slimming World suits you!

I don't think the site is being despotic with its insistence that you post a number of posts before being allowed to post photos, or see other peoples' - I think it's more about security - keeping spammers and other saddos out - think of it more as a rite of passage!

Have a good week!

Agree with you on sincere love of food and also on the scales - we must have bought ours from the same shop (my consultant obviously got hers from the devil in some soul exchange effort as they are extra evil). Good news about SW vs other random diets I have tried is the scope for creating really really nice food and eating heaps of it! Currys and burgers and risottos and comfort foods a-plenty!

Good luck on here and SW in general :)
