back from mw not happy

big bear

A bear on a mission!
I'm measuring big for the stage I'm at. I've got 2 c the consultant in 2 weeks if still big she said they'll keep me in prob for a c-section.

If they think babs is big they won't let me have a vaginal birth as its risking 3rd deg tears again that can cause problems.

I really don't want a c-section as I've got a 20mth old & it'll be difficult to look after. It also means being in hosp longer I don't want my son staying at mil too long 1 nite max as I've got a lot of problems with her,

Also I hoped for a normal birth so I can fly home to my family in ireland 4 wks after the birth.

I'm so gutted, I've also got loads to do still in preparation!

How big are you measuring?? Hopefully it has a had a growth spurt and will slow down over the next few weeks? Hope things work out the way you want ;)

Right, first, make a list of all the things you need to do, and get them done before you go back to see the consultant, as much as possible. Get OH to help.

Second, they would not put you through a section unless they thought it was the absolute best option for you. There are lots of reasons why you might have to stay in longer with a normal delivery too, so much as you and MIL are not besty buds, you need to be able to relax and enjoy the first few days with your new baba, and not be stressing because your other little one is being looked after. Its not ideal, but I have had 3 sections, the first it was a week you had to stay in, the second was 4 days (I signed myself out after 2 coz I was going nuts in there) and the third you could go on the third day if everything looked ok. I guess it depends on the hospital policy.

How much home support will you have when you get back? By the time you get back you should be up to shuffling about a bit, the housework can wait, or you can ask a friend or family member to come help a bit.

Or, you may be stressing for nothing and they might just let you go naturally after all. You need to be enjoying these last few weeks and not worrying about what might happen. Whatever happens, you will get through it just fine.

(((hugs)))

If it is an comfort I ended up with an emergancy section with my daughter - I was gutted as hoping for a home water birth - but the whole expereince was great - had my daughter on the Monday at 9.15 and was out on the tuesday later in the afternoon - went from hopsital to sainburies shopping and the next day out walking with baby in pram and driving 2 weeks later - didn't have any complications, there was no pain and I felt fab - try to stay positive and trust that the docs will do what is best for your and for your darling baby.

Thanks for ur replies. I feel a bit better today & getting my head around the possability of a c-section. I've spoken to my 2 best friends & they said they'd help & have my son for me. I've also spoken to my mum.

I just get so much stress from mil & her interferrence. She was going on yest about someone she knew who had a downs baby & another whose baby's legs hadn't developed properly which really upset me.

Anyhow packed my hospital bag packed & H off for a few days so I'll finish things in the house.

Glad you are feeling a bit more positive now, just read MummyTummy's update and she went in on monday for her csection and was home by weds night, I was in for longer the last twice I had to be induced, 4 days and 5 days, sitting about waiting for a spot on labour ward as they were so busy:mad:
So even if you do end up with a section you may not be in hosp for as long as you think and hopefully your friends will be able to help out when you get home.

You may have already has your section by now but - when they said you are measuring big how big are they expecting it to be?

People have big babies all the time without having sections - my sister was the biggest of us at 10lb 6 - my mam is tiny and she said she was the easiest to have - there are things that determine tearing and sections other than a big baby, the way it is lying, how good your midwife is, if you have had an epidural or not - that's a big one I think - dd was just under 9lbs but looked bigger, brow presentation and no epi - it took all my strength to deliver her but if I have had an epi she would have been an assisted delivery - I wouldn't have been able to push her out without being able to feel properly.

Your mental state can also effect your ability to push - if you believe that you are not going to be able to deliver your baby because he/she is too big it may have a negative effect on your ability to.

Thanks hun, no baby yet got appt on 4th Oct where they'll decide.

My son was 10lb 4oz was forceps delivery, had 3rd degree tears & had an epidural. I think I'm measuring 1cm bigger so not sure how significant that is.

I've got my head round a c-section now so what will be will be. X x

1cm out on fundal measurement? they usually don't get concerned until 3-4cm out.. also my friend had to have scans all the time with her first, saying he was a monster baby, he was born weighing 7lb - so don't stress too much, the measurements can be massively inaccurate!
