Coke Zero

Can you have coke zero on ss+? It's got malic acid instead of citric. I still intend to drink my water obviously but now and again a bit of fizzy would be nice. I know the CDC advise against fizzy drinks as they can make you bloated.

I know a small amont of coke zero wont knock you out of ketosis , but it does have the effect of making you crave food .. so if you can cope with that then a small amont once in a while wont do any harm , but still not recommended . ( I used to have 1 small can a week when on 810 )

Thanks hun, I'm still craving food massively so will wait to see if that goes away.

It's not strictly 'on plan', but I've never found a problem with having a carbonated drink every now and then. Not only Coke Zero, but Pepsi Max, Diet Coke, and all manner of diet sodas that do actually contain citric acid.

I don't advocate that for everyone, though - a few people can be more sensitive to it than others, and the reason citric acid isn't advised is that too much of it stalls ketogenesis in the body by reactivating something called the TCA cycle... I won't bore you with the details! As with all things, moderation is the key.

However, I digress, since you're not asking about citric acid: so yes, one Coke Zero will probably be fine. I take a realistic view of these things, in that if it's going to keep you motivated and happy to carry on, then it's by far the better option than feeling deprived and failing.

I've had one can every day with no adverse effect! Not recommended now though!

I have a can of coke zero every day, it was OK when I last did Cambridge, this time it is not for some reason, but it doesnt seem to have any adverse effects on me.

if you want fizzy, i like fizzy water with the flavouring.. yum
