Hi Im clare, I started Atkins a week ago hit a 8 week plateau weighing 19st 8  through calorie counting and decided to try atkins induction.

I have been lurking on this part of the forum all week for hints and tips inparticular Jims list of foods (thanks :D).

Anyways, I received my book today and my weigh in was today tadar!! lost 9lbs I can't believe it so pleased :) and the fact I just love the food Im eating, Im in ketosis, although the first 3 days I had huge headaches seems to have gone now and for some reason I feel really happy not saying I was miserable think I just feel better.

I hope you peeps don't mind me coming on here now and again, asking for advice I can really do with some support but can't always get to a computer.. so bare with me for replies, hopefully speak to some of you soon :)

Hiya Clarish

Well done on week 1's loss!

its been a long journey (two years so far) with many ups and down literally lol but hey I'm going to take this plan week by week.

I have to say so far so good have'nt had a cholesterol check ever in my life and I'm 35 yo.
I should of really did that first thats the only thing that worries me a bit although it didnt worry me when I was over 24 stone!

I been used to low fat/less carb/calorie counting DIY diet which I made up as I went along for 2 years, finding it hard to accept I can eat fat again I hope the guilt disappears soon lol :D

So you have lost all your weight so far using Atkins?

No, I lost the big bulk on Cambridge. :)
I wanted to get fitter and put muscle on, which I felt I couldn't do on 600 cals a day so I switched to Atkins for the fat and protein.

I'm getting fit and muscly alright now but I'm not getting smaller or lighter. I'm optimistic (sometimes) that will change soon though. :)

I've got 2 for definite and perhaps 3 stone to go.

We look forward to your updates and hope it goes really smoothly for you! :D

Hi Clare & welcome :D

thankyou pet, 600 cals to me is too extreme I know personally I wouldnt have coped at all, I wouldnt worry about the weight gain at the moment if you have changed completely the way you eat, your body is probably naturally holding on to it thinking your going to kinda starve again my sister did the same she was 14st went down to 8 after a vlcd started her eating (cutting carbs) and put 1/2 a stone back on took about 8/9 weeks before her metabolism levelled out and lost it again don't lose hope :D

Hi Clare and welcome, well done on your 1st weeks loss. Its great to be able to eat isn't it.
lorna x

Im loving it I'm not missing my old way of dieting it at all, I can't believe how full I feel the only thing I think Im going to miss is alcohol, so Im going to become a weekend hermit and save the money :)
