Really Upset - Help Please

Morning,
I started my strict nine week regime beginning of this week and I know I really shouldnt have but I took a sneak peek at the scales this morning and I had the horrible result of 3 pounds on!! I am so upset as I have been really good, I even have 1.5 litres of water a day! I just dont know what to do. Has anyone gone through this before or should I just wait until the full week and see if my weight changes for the good? Thanks for your help, I am so bummed out. :cry:
 
Hi Laura

Well done for starting on your journey to a slimmer you. I find two things help me - I don't see it as a strict regime, more a life changing eating plan cooking the foods I love in a healthier way.

Also its not a good idea to weigh yourself between weigh ins. Your body weight changes throughout the day and all scales are different. Trust your scales at the group.

I've lost count of the amount of times I/we have seen this kind of post and you know what the answer will be.....Keep off the scales!

If you have stuck to plan properly then you really shouldn't have gained weight. The only reason for a gain is totm or not following the plan correctly.

Why is it a 9 week strict regime? SW doesn't need to be strict hun, there is so much food and flexibility in the plans that it doesn't have to be strict.

Your weight will come off, just keep off the flippin scales!
 
I get the same, get so demoralised I end up giving up and thats why I joined minimims yesterday.

Wait til the week is out, it could be water retention if you're due on. I'm still waiting to see a loss (even a quarter pound would do!) from my very low calorie intake that started on Sunday!
 
Hi hun, are you saying your not having weekly weigh ins over this 9 week period? and does this mean that this is a short term thing for you??? and by strict do you mean your being stingy with your syns etc??? because if so, then this is your problem..

relax, follow the plan to make it easy and enjoyable.. dont sneaky weigh in, weight for your official weigh in, not on home scales preferably as they can be inaccurate.. and dont be upset, if youv been good.. i cant see any reason why youd gain 3lbs- this could be showing for any reason... if you had a heavy meal last night, if youd had breaky before you jumped on the scales.. if youd just drank loads of water! if your retaining water for whatever reason!


i got back from hols sunday, weighed monday with a 16lb gain showing, weighed wednesday and id gained 8.5 .. so in 3 days i had in effect lost half of the original weigh in show, through water retention! .. x

Thanks for your posts. Well the reason I say strict is I am always one to fail and fall off the diet wagon after 2 weeks. The 9 weeks is when my holiday is so its a mini goal for me to head to. Obviously when I get back from this hol it will just be a normal plan which obviously I know is a life changing eating habits. I just find it helps me to stay good on a diet when I have a goal to meet. When you mentioned totm it dawned on me that I am due Monday, but would that affect it so early? Sorry if I'm a bore and you have had these posts so many times, its just a little disheartning especially when I feel like I've lost weight! I am going to keep to it and wait until Monday and hope for the best!
 
Really do get rid of the scales, they mess with your head. I did this just over a week ago as my scales showed a gain the day before weigh in and it got me down. On day of weigh in i had actually lost.
Double check you are following the plan correctly, maybe start a food diary on here for some help if you haven't already.
Plus totm can really affect some people. Don't give up and go back to old ways, you can do this.
 
Are you going to group Laura or going it alone? Reason I ask is if you are going to group then get rid of your scales!
No need to be strict on SW, not for any length of time - just stick to plan.
TOTM really can affect weight loss - up to 4lb for some people but it's only water, not a real gain!
 
You guys are so good, thank you. You really have perked me up and to hear all you have the same/similar problems doesnt make me feel singled out and that I am a failure! No this is a diet for long term, the nine weeks is literally a goal until my holiday thats all, I will be back on it straight after my hol break. This week I have been trying to have as much superfree foods as I can along with my HEX's and syns of upto 10 a day, I've tried to stay away from having Red, Green or EE but usually have rice in the evenings with my Quorn. I promise I wont weigh myself anymore at home because as you all said it really does mess with your head! By the way, does everyone exercise while on the diet? Its just I would but I work long hours and weekends!

Hun you really shouln't tweak the plans - the plans are red green and EE. Not following plans correctly won't help you. You'll just get hungry and then fall off the wagon.
Even being super strict you should be having some FREE red or green foods with your meals.

Lots of people exercise but I'm lazy, I don't!
 
OK thats cool then, I dont feel as bad not exercising!
I prefer green days so I think I will introduce more of those in my diet then. I love the Quorn roast chicken style slices, when I looked in my book I couldnt find them but compared them to other products and assumed them as free, does any of you know?
 
They are free hun but don't assume anything is free, always check.
Do you go to group? You should get a password from your consultant and you can check syn values of anything on the SW website then.
 
yes, the week before your period is the worst! its all building up before you flush it out. (yum haha)



Dont tweak the plans, otherwise i'd go as far to say your not following sw at all, just your own eating plans based on the sw way. Follow it properly and you will see results.

No I do it on my own, so its my scales or no scales. I used to go to class so have all the books but then my hours of work grew and I have no time at all EVER!! grrr! Thanks for all your advice, I really am going to take this on board and do what you say. Dont mean to go on asking questions but you know its nearly totm for me and water is retained, should I continue drinking my 1.5litres a day whilst on? Also I have these powdered sugar free water flavourings, are they OK to have?

Keep drinking the water.. the less you drink, the more you're body retains so you will amke it worse by drinking less. When I'm all bloated and retaining water I drink more to help flush it all out :)

As for the flavoured sachet things- what are they? What brand etc and we can figure out if they are free for you.
 
I don't own scales, I found they were taking over my life when I was on WW. I will just get weighed once a week at meeting.

Can you not get rid of the scales? Then you won't be tempted
