Long term maintenance question...

Hi everyone, I have lost 24 lb and have another 7-14 to go. I have refeed sorted in my head and will follow the script 100% but have a few questions to ask about maintenance.

For those of you who are successful maintaining does it get easier as time goes on? i would think that as you are slimmer you need fewer calories and surely the metabolism and hunger settles into this. I hope so anyway as I know I can be 'good' for a while but would love it to come naturally.
Also do you prefer healthier foods after tfr?

im still reasonably new at the maintenance lark and i know jan, etc will probably be more help than me but ill answer anyway to the best of my ability lol.

i finished lt back beg of july and basically followed the refeed for many weeks and i bought about 4 extra weeks of main stuff to help me get used to eating. for a while i couldnt eat a huge amount anyway and the thought of it made me feel ill but since ive been away and also cause i run a lot now, i eat better knowing that what im eating will be burnt off :) it does help a lot knowing that you are keeping yourself under control that way so that if one day you do overeat a bit you know you can counteract it by reducing your food the next and running a bit longer :) it works! ive lost the remaining 5lbs i had to lose since i finished plus another 2 whilst on holiday. its just getting over the feeling scared thing i found that your now basically on your own and thrown in the deep end. just listen to your body now and when it tells you your full, stop eating! it really does work and its something weve all ignored to have got overweight anyway :)

hope that helps a bit

Well done on your losses to date and it will be no time until you have completed your journey. The beauty of TFR is that it breaks old habits. It will be important to ensure you do not return to old habits after TFR.
Personally, I switched to GL after 26 weeks on TFR both as a way of maintaining my losses to date and in an effort to lose more in a healthy way. GL suits my lifestyle very well. I also try to watch the overall calorie intake as well to avoid overeating of the healthy choices!! I use the site myfitnesspal.com and find it great to keep me on track.
My advice is follow an 80/20 rule as in be sensible 80% of the time.
Watch portion sizes as it is easy to overeat.
Keep up the water intake. Water really helps keep you hydrated and thus avoids hunger pangs.
