Eating Breakfast

Do you or don't you?

Should you?

I'm not really a breakfast person but would force something down if I thought it would aid my weight loss.

I know you SHOULD, its allegedly the most important meal of the day but Im like you. The only time I can do breakfast is when Im early shift and thats because Im up at 0540 but dont have breakfast til my break at 0930. Theres no way I can get up and eat shortly afterwards. Although I KNOW I should :(

Yes you definitely should. When you wake up, your metabolism is running very slowly as you've been asleep. Until you eat your first mouthful, you don't wake it up to start burning brightly.

Like you, I didn't used to be a breakfast eater "in my previous life" (mind you, look what weight I got to!!), so I still can't eat first thing. I've resolved the issue by arriving at the office early enough to be able to eat in peace before I'm paid!

So, to start your metabolism up, could you just have a cereal bar or something? I'm not a big breakfast eater either...

You could... but I always think that cereal bars are heavy on the old calories for what they bring us, and they're gone in three mouthfuls!

Trust me - make it part of your routine if you can. It's worth it.

Remember the maxim:

BREAKFAST like a KING...

LUNCH like a PRINCE...

DINE like a PAUPER...

Ideally include cereal, ss milk or toast, piece of fruit (or smoothie), and yoghurt, but I admit that I never can!

I now do find that I'm hungry for my breakfast. Albeit about two hours after I get up!

Yeah I used to say the same thing as you about being hungrier when I ate breakfast than when I didn't. I think the official response to that is that you've not had a good enough breakfast.

Have you tried porridge? I usually have 1/2 grapefruit and a bowl of Fitnesse cereal with ss milk. Does me until lunchtime.

oh and P.S. it's been years since I did WW, so am not sure which song they sing on this subject
