DIY VLCD?

I am a student, and also been doing atkins. Due to a complete lack of appetite I have been living on protein shakes and low carb bars, effectively doing a VLCD.
I am in ketosis, and also taking various supplements.
Due to being a student I can't afford to do cambridge etc, I plan to buy 4 weeks exante when I get my loan but that is a month away. Is anyone else doing this kind of thing?
I am losing well, and I feel good, I am hoping not to harm myself in the next month waiting for exante.
Any advice? x

I understand that it isn't possible to get all the nutrients you need for less than 1200 calories. That's why VLCD's have added vitamins and minerals. Are you doing damage to yourself? I don't know. I'd figure very short term no but longer term yes. How long is longer term though?

I'd suggest trying to eat more. You are young and your body needs the right amount of nutrients. Also whilst dieting you need to be thinking about what you'll do afterwards. You don't want to develop an eating disorder or physical problems due to malnutrition.

There isn't a big rush is there? Take your time and learn the lessons you'll need for afterwards.

Hey jools1986!!

I've being on Atkins myself for a few weeks but have decided to do a vlcd now! What's amazing with the Atkins is that it has totally gotten rid of my sugar/ carb cravings it's amazing!! I hardly have any appetite so I'm finding switching over to a vlcd not as hard as if I'd just gone straight into the vlcd! I'm planning on doing it for a few months and see how I go! I've already lost 6lbs in 4 days so it seems to be working great for me at the minute... But I start work next week so we'll see how it goes then!

Good luck with everything! Let's us know how you get on!!!

Haha!

Whoops! I just typed something into google and one of our threads came out! Least there's life in the old thing yet :D
