If we were going to eat something (I am not by the way just curious) and we look at the carb content on the wrapper which figure do we look at.

I will tell you what it is, i have just had 1 piece of extra chewing gum and on the wrapper it says per 100 grams carbs 66 g  of which sugars 0 g.

Just a bit worried now as i thought extra was ok in moderation!!!!

Is it the sugar carbs we look at......

Yes you look at 'of which sugars' basically.

However on VLCDs you need to be wary of all carbs. Even the sugar polyol ones such as sorbitol, which is in most of those chewing gums and diabetic type foods.

Some people are very sensitive to them and they can stall weight loss. They can also give you the runs! Badly. And I read somewhere that they can give you cravings. It depends on how you react to them, I suppose.

On Low-GI plans I think you can have a lot more non-sugar related carbs - the natural kind you get in cereals and fruit etc.
