Another newbie with questions!!

faylolo

but real name's Rona
I'm on 2nd day of attack. Started off just trying a few things but yesterday afternoon realised I hadn't had anything I shouldn't have so just went for it! I haven't got round to getting the book yet and don't want to pay over £200 for the Dukan coaching so here's my questions (so far) which I hope someone can answer for me.
Is balsamic vinegar OK? I tried tinned salmon with dill and balsamic vinegar - yum much nicer that mayo!
I can't have dairy products so quark etc is out but have subbed Alpro plain yoghurt instead. Its 2.3% fat and 2.1% carb. Is this OK or is there anything else I could/should use?
Finally, (for now) are sugar free jellies allowed in attack?
Ta Rona x
PS 2lb down this morning - that's why I'm on day 2 :):)

Hi and welcome!

Is balsamic vinegar OK?

I would say no (too much sugar), I use red wine vinegar.

Can you get a soya fromage frais replacement? It can be used for sweet or savoury and it's amazing how spices/herbs can liven it up. If not, lemon juice is nice with fish too).

The carbs won't be a problem (there is a higher carb percentage in the yogurt I have), but the fat should be as close to 0% as possible - I think low-fat is tolerated, but don't know what low-fat is as I just get 0%. I'm probably not the best person to advise what to use. The forum will liven up during the week so you'll get lots of help then.

I have no idea (no jelly in France:p) but I know that Jo has them quite often (she's not in attack). I'm sure someone who has the list of allowed foods for the British version will be able to help.

Best of luck - you'll get great support here (just is a bit quiet at the weekend).

Hiya Fay

You're right, the coaching is very expensive - but have you bought the book? it's less than £8 and is very beneficial.....

Also Balsamic IS allowed! :)

Really? It's about 3 gr sugar per tablespoonful, I believe. Oh well, I suppose nobody drinks it, so small quantities :D...

Forgot to mention the brans - very important. 1 1/2 level tablespoonfuls of oatbran (not porridge oats or oatmeal) and 1 of wheatbran. The first is necessary, the second optional. Once on cruise, the quantity of oatbran increases to 2 tablespoonfuls. You might know this already though...

Thanks for your replies :). I have ordered the book from Amazon so should get that mid-week. Read somewhere that low fat cottage cheese is pretty much lactose free so have tried some of that today. Will also try the 0% yoghurt and quark. Bank holiday tomorrow so if I get a bad reaction got the day to recover before back to work on Tuesday. I make the pancakes with the oatbran and wouldn't do without them as the lack of fibre was one of reasons I came off Atkins (but eating dairy foods might sort that problem out )
