Mars reveal their new healthier chocolate bars

I agree Irish Eyes - it's much easier for me not to break my diet if I don't eat any chocolate at all. Then again, the fun size Milky Ways are a great treat if I can't resist.

LOL Maria, not tempted then :D

Oh well thats the taste of them ruined now then! Like the crisps that are 50% less sat fat and cooked in sunflower oil - yuck! Its a good thing though cos the things now taste so tasteless and dry that it stops me eating them in the first place so their "less sat fat" is 100% for me!!
Wooo!

:rotflmao: My goodness is this thread a good laugh!!! You lot are so funny!

And i totally agree with dextermummy and Miss Mango...wouldn't put it past them.

But btw where are they???

There is 5.2g of saturated fat in a mars bar, so reducing it by 15% means less than a gram of saturated fat. Less than a gram. And they spent £9 million doing it.

There are 11 teaspoons of sugar in a mars bar, how about reducing some of that? 11 teaspoons of sugar in a small confectionery bar, now thats where the real problem is.

Yep, that's def not a good thing!

I find eating lots of sweet foods, just makes me want more. 10 lower fat Mars Bars would not be a good idea... I'd rather just avoid. I have some dark chocolate (1 small bar) in the house...it's not something I feel a need to overeat, in fact so far I've not opened it :)

Dark chocolate is a much better option than the sugary confectionery bars. You dont need so much of it as its quite strong and it has much less impact on blood glucose levels. In fact my doctor told me not to rely on dark chocolate to get me out of a diabetic hypo as it just wont convert to glucose quick enough. It has much less sugar in it so is actually suitable for diabetics to have a small amount as a treat. So keeping a small bar of dark chocloate in the house is a good plan, I do the same.

Yes I agree 4.42g instead of 5.2, a joke really

where are they on sale? do have to agree they would be still far from healthy..my problem is i am greedy. don't know if i can resist

I'm like that with alcohol :sigh:

I'm greedy, I have to have none at all then I'm fine... But once I get the taste I can't stop :-((

But don't you find that when you're on a diet, people try to make you eat these things, and Jim, don't you find there's a bit too much pressure to have a drink, or another drink? I don't have any issues with alcohol, but I don't often feel like having a drink. I still want to go out with people and have a laugh, but maybe with a virgin cocktail or an OJ. This doesn't seem to be ok with other people :(

Back in the day I was a heavy drinker dreamer, one of the reasons I got fat 8+ pints of Guinness most nights, it got so bad I couldn't sleep if I hadn't had a drink. Then I started Atkins where you can't drink on induction, so I just drank dry red wine on a Friday night only, and that's where I am now. I suspect I have the addiction gene. I can NOT drink, but I can't have only one drink if that makes sense.
