Slimming World Recipe Books - so disappointed!

donnajt

Addicted to Minimins!
I have three SW books:-

Food Glorious Food (mega old but prob my fav)

SW best ever recipes (nothing in there I can't cook)

SW family feasts for a fiver (absolutely nothing that sets my world on fire!)

Am I alone? does anybody recommend I try any recipes from these books? is there a brilliant SW book I have yet to discover?

I find the recipes on these boards so inspiring but find it sad that the official SW books are so boring!

I always buy the cook books but am not overly impressed by some and often find the recipes are duplicated.
I do like the Extra Easy cook book and the family feasts for a fiver but my fave has got to be the new Curry book and also the old Comfort Foods cookbook.

To be honest, I just use recipes from magazines and cookbooks and adapt them.

im the same, i find all of the books have a toekn burger receipe or a fish pie in them!!

I tend to use the extra easy cook book, or the comfort foods. I have the family feasts and have only used once.
I tend to get receipes online and adapt them to the Sw way

I've got the curry one. My intention was to cook from it instead of getting a takeaway on a Saturday but DH has kaiboshed (sp?) that idea each weekend so far. I didn't take much persuading though-lol

I'm the same. I have lots of the SW cook books, but tend not to use them very often at all. I do have an A4 ringbinder that I've collected SW recipes in over the years, made up from things I've cut out of magazines, printed from the computer, etc. I've included an 'inspiration' section too.

The slimmingeats website is good, i've only been here a couple of days but I think it's a poster from these forums that put it together?

yes it's britmums - her recipes are gorgeous and her pictures have me simply drooling, sadly mine although delicious just don't look as pretty her britmums!

why not look in non SW cookbooks, and adapt the meals to be SW friendly - or syn them???

Hi ellebear, I normally do but I just fancied trying something new and to be honest I was being lazy, having a 38 year old big kid, 10 year old and 1 year old I just seem to spend all my time thinking about, cooking or eating!! wish i'd saved the money and bought myself some flowers or something, better still new knickers lol!

ps the 38 year old is my husband

yes i have a 31 year old at home too :D

i tend to throw things together and see how they go - my favourite is the lasagne, when i chop up all the veggies under the sun - add to the mince and add tomatoes -simmer and then do a lasagne using a colmans chedder cheese sauce - Milk as a HEA and the mix is 8 syns for a packet - so 4 syns for the Lasagne on a EE day. (although its huge - so probably only 2 syns!!!)

I have quite a few of the SW books and for me the "world of flavours" one is by far the best... I haven't had a recipe out of there that hasn't been declared stunning:D
The coq au vin, stiffado and buffalo chicken in particular get made on a regular basis

i have most of cookbooks and i was dissapointed 2, weight watchers books are great, but sw are pants

I have most of them, i quite like them....

I have the curry cookbook and I really like it!

The Extra Easy one is a bit "meh" its alright just doesn't set my world on fire. I bought it as was panicked my first week on what to eat. Which seems daft now.

I love the curry book- eat tonnes of those... I also like the green book as it has some lovely risottos! I use them randomly, I love the simply summer one cause the desserts are YUM! Hmm... I need a sit down with the books and I'll pick out some, I'll get back to you tomorrow when I'm at home!
