Does anyone on here go to a class?

The girls at work are thinking of going and they keep trying to get me to go but as I am overweight and unfit i'm worried I wont be able to keep up!!! looked at it on U Tube and it looks quite strenuous but a laugh.

HI there

I haven't been to a Zumba class either but thinking about also joining. I have a few friends and work colleagues who go and they say it is really good fund and nobody cares if you can keep up or if you do it wrong.

Speak to the teacher before the class and tell her that you are knew and I'm sure she'll put your mind at ease.

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Apologies I seemed to post my reply twice - first reply had few shocking spelling mistakes and I tried to sort it but obv did it wrong. Oops!

I have been to a couple of Zumba classes and believe me the instructors looked nothing like the ones on YouTube!!! They were normal, just like you and me, one very pear shaped and the other more apple shape IYKWIM :) You can do as much or as little as you like, the main thing is just to keep moving even if its only walking on the spot!

I usually find that me legs don't listen to my brain and if I try to use my arms - forget it! but it is fun, the music is good and its even better if a few friends go together :) Try it, you might just enjoy it :D

Hi there,

I got either once or twice a week (sometimes three if I can afford it!) It's a great way to exercise and it is lots of fun, I spent most of the first attempt laughing my way through it but it is infectious and makes you want to exercise! See going back to my normal DVD's just doesnt cut it anymore.

Although the instructors that do my classes are dancers so they move different to me but hey! they say as long as you move, your burning calories! :D

I've been a few times - my instructor looks like a dancer / model, but there are all shapes, sizes and ages of people who go.
It's great fun. Very rowdy and an almost carnival-like atmosphere. People tend to be smiling while they do it too. I tried Salsa aerobics today, and that was a calmer alternative to Zumba. I'll be back to both.

I go to Zumba twice a week and love it; it is nothing like the videos on YouTube. Parts of it are fast granted but it's not all fast fast fast like the videos online; the class is so friendly and a whole range of people go from children who are 8-13 up to women who are 50+ and everyone in between. Some in the class have rhythm and pick it up quickly, others like me do what we can and pick it up when and where we can, but you don't feel or are not made to feel silly for doing that.

The instructor is fab, very encouraging and welcoming and doesn't make anyone feel bad or embarrassed if they are a few beats behind.

I love it and it is the first class I have been to where I couldn't wait to go back, it doesn't even feel like a 'class', just a group of people laughing, dancing and having fun.

Ive been going to zumba 2 months nearly ans started at just over 15 stone,as said you just do what your able and the more you go you learn the steps. The instructor we have is fully zumba trained and has zumba stars which is why I go to her as she does it as its meant to be.
No one takes any notice of you there are aged 13 to 70 in our groups and I started at one a week now I do 50 mins on a monday followed by 50 mins combat areobics then I do the same on wednesday and 50 mins on Thursday.
I love zumba its easier than aerobics and you'll want to go back ;) x

I went to my first zumba class on monday and it was absolutely brilliant i went with 3 teenage girls my daughter and 2 pals of my nephew and the 4 of us had a great time and will all be going back next week im even looking into another class on a weds or thurs its the first exercise ive done that ive wanted to go back to, i was very surprised i managed to do the whole class without having breaks apart from a drink of water in between dances and songs i thought id be needing to puff away on my inhaler and die of exhaustion half way thru i cameout of the class with the sweat pouring off me and i felt brilliant

Excuse me for being out of the loop and possibly a wee bit blonde but what is Zumba? Is it some sort of dance?

It's Latin African aerobics done in intervals of usually 10 min over a hour or a lil less xx
Thanks for that! I like the sound of it, I might look a class up locally and see if I can go along, although I'll probably make myself look stupid in class! Haha :D

you cannot look stupid in class,,,, my instructor says even if you lose the routine keep moving and find it back again aslong as your moving your dancing
