Advice for hypoglycaemia!

funcurls

Never gets tired of SW!
A friend of mine has started SW and suffers with hypoglycaemia. She can have up to 4 episodes per week. I was just wondering if anyone else suffers with this (or hypos associated with diabetes) and what people eat/take to treat such episodes. She is aware that the main priority at the time is to get something sugary into her immediately but at the same time doesn't want to jeopardise her weight loss too much! X

my nurse suggested carrying a small bag of jelly beans as u'd only need a couple. I tend to have grapes or banana when i feel i need sugar as they r free but full of the 'right' sugar. the jelly beans r back-up for when im away from home. x

Hi Heather, I suffer from hypoglycaemia too. I find a banana or two works wonders. I also carry a fibre plus bar to keep me going if my blood sugar bottoms out...

On another note, I don't know if you've read my other posts to you but I'm a Swansea girl too and used to go to Alicia's class in Sketty on monday nights (same as you!) I don't have transport now though so go to Christine's class in the city centre. Small world huh?!

All the very best, ZXXX

Great, thanks for this girls!! I shall relay the information!X Zoe, I've replied to your other posts fellow Swansea gal!!X

BF is a type 1 diabetic and has been following SW. When he is getting hypo he eats a banana or two and this does the trick to get his sugars back to a decent level, then follows it up with something carby to make sure it stays up. Also hasn't jepodised his weight loss at all :)
