My bmi is now 24.8 and I have been ss up till now and just finished a aam week as done my last 4 weeks ss.

My cdc and I decided I should do aam for another 2 weeks to lose the last 9lbs to get me to goal of 10 stone. But having read other threads here it seems that I should be doing the 1000 plan now instead or risk losing muscle.

Is that right? SHould i eat something more today and do the 1000 plan for the week anyway despite what agreed with cdc?

Do you have your yellow Weight Care with Cambridge booklet? If you have a look in there, it explains the steps to come off the plan. I would discuss it with your CDC as my advice at this stage would be to start going through the stabilisation steps heading into maintenance.

But talk it through with your CDC - she might have another reason for her suggestion.

Linda is absolutely spot on! You should not be doing SS,AAM or 790 with a BMI of 24.8.

I would give your CDC a call and talk through moving onto 1000 and finishing your weight loss gently as it is important to stabilise your weight loss and not crash through the finish line while still on VLCD.

Thanks all. I was pretty worried lastnight after reading about muscle loss. Why didnt my counsellor tell me I needed to go onto 1000 calories? SHe would have let me do ss again but I said I wanted to have some food introduced hence we agreed aam for two more weeks till I came here!

Hi,

What I suggest you do is rather than go from AAM to 1000 cals you have 3 days at 790, starting today, then move to 1000 cals. This way it will not be such a drastic jump in the amount you are eating.

As said before you should be on 1000 cals at BMI 25 but as this hasn't happened ease yourself into 1000 cals.

Give your CDC a ring.

Linda

And don't panic about the muscle loss, you'll be just fine!
