Hi everyone,

I'm 24 years old and I have been on a diet since April. It hasn't been easy, epecially considering I decided to give up smoking in May (I've been nicotine-free since May 17th)! I didn't weigh myself until early June. I'm 5'2" and I was 10st 5.5lb in June. I am now 9st 11lb. So I have lost 8.5lb since which although is still a loss, is rather disappointing considering it's been two months and I've worked so hard. As well as cutting out all of the food I love, I have been jogging three times a week since April.

My birthday was in May and I am horrified by the photos of my party. This has been a big motivation.

I have been on a diet for most of my life. Last year I joined a gym and went there for three months. I lost a stone and a half but I gave up and put it all back on again. This time I am resolutely determined to get down to my goal weight, which is 8st. Before, after seeing the disappointing weight loss I would have given up and had a huge food blow out but not this time.

I have really stepped up my jogging, increasing a mile every week. I have entered the women's 5k in September to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind. I am also a lot stricter with my diet, having much less carbs and drastically cutting down the diet coke (which I am addicted to).

I've been lurking on this forum for a few weeks now and am truly humbled by the members here. Your before and after photos are amazing. I felt I should introduce myself and give my story. The weight I need to lose is nothing compared to the incredible work being done by some of the members here but I hope I can contribute something positive to this forum!

By the way if anyone wants any advice on giving up smoking, just drop me a line.

Thanks for reading,

CCL

Hi CrazyCatLady and welcome to the forums.

You have done well really. Stopping smoking is not easy. I only smoked for about 4 years and not heavily and even I found it very difficult. So kudos for that alone.

I think you've also done well with your weight too. As you say, you don't have as much as a lot of other people to lose, but that doesn't make it that much easier really. It sounds like you may just need a little help to find the right balance with what you have been doing.

I'm sure you will find the help you need and do well with losing the rest of the weight to get to your goal.

I also admire people that do these various charity runs, it's something that I wish I could do.
