Fainting on LL - has this happened to anyone else?

Hello
I have been a lurker on this great site for a while now and have been inspired, motivated and educated by all you lovely people out there. But i know need a bit more advice.
I am starting my 8th week of LL, have lost 24.5 pounds (don't forget the half!) and am v. chuffed with the loss so far. I have felt fine up to now but had a "bit of a spell" this morning which has slightly alarmed me (and my poor husband who witnessed it and had to deal with it).
What happened? - well, I got up at 4 am to go to the loo (pretty usual at the mo. as you will all know) and the next thing I knew I was coming round from a faint/blackout having passed out and fallen on the back of my head. My husband said he heard me call his name, a loud clunk and there I was lying on the floor next to the bed!!
I tried to get up as still needed to go to the loo, kept on passing out and eventually crawled to the loo where I sat feeling awful. What happened next is the really scary part - I have little recollection of it but my husband, who was hovering nervously over me at that point, said I suddenly sat up straight, then slumped backwards and (this is gross) wee'd all over my pyjamas etc, all the time being out for the count. This didn't last long, poor husband washed me down and carried me back to bed where I've stayed till now.
I feel much better, a bit lightheaded, I have had a shake, water etc. and have also left a message for my LLC so I can chat to her about this. I am not going to contact the doctor at this point, will monitor the situation and if it happens again will then go.
Has anyone out there experienced something similar or heard of it happening to anyone else? Is this possibly something that happens mid way through the programme?
P.S. I have been 100% abstinent with the programme, but with a cup of hot Marigold bouillon every now and again

Hi there,
I fainted on day 4 of LL.
I'd urge you to make a check up appointment with your doctor/nurse to get your bloods checked etc if you experience any other other episodes.

Hopefully when your LLC calls back you can ask her/him to check with the LL HQ?

LL told me that I was actually dehyrated because I was drinking my water too quickly, just to get it down me.

Hope you haven't hurt yourself with the fall.

Kitty

aw big hugs to you , thats horrid. It hasn't happened to me but i think at times I come close to it.

Check with your doctors and see whats going on.

Keep us posted.

Hi all
Thanks for responding. I have taken it very easy today, still feel slightly out of it but thats probably due to the knock on the head - in fact, most of it probably is other than the initial faint and thats probably due to hopping out of bed quickly in my eager rush to get to the loo :)
Still waiting to hear back from LLC but she does take Fridays off so no doubt will hear from her as some point this w/end.

Thanks again.

Diana that's a horrible thing you've had to go through - I've never had anything like that, never felt faint or anything.

Just wondering if it could be due to low blood sugar as I know that dips in the early hours and can also make you faint. Think it really is worth speaking to a nurse/doctor - especially if it happens again.

Cath

Thanks Cath.
I will go to the doc's if it happens again. (just a bit nervous about going in case they recommend stopping LL which they probably will even though as you say it is more than likely low blood sugar)

What time did you have your last pack yesterday? Just wondering if it's worth trying to have your last one in the late evening just so that your body isn't going as long without getting anything inside it.

The plus to your situation is that it's not going to take you too long to get to goal :)

Cath

Yep, it happened to me too on LL. It must have been when I was in development so I was quite a way into the programme, but like you I got out of bed too quickly one morning to go to the loo.

Next minute I remember waking up with a bad headache and a huge dint in my laundry bin (a barbrantia metal bin so that shows how hard I hit it) with my flatmate standing over me looking concerned Had a huge bruise and felt really ill all day. It was a saturday so I was lucky that I could
just lay in bed. My flatmate was great and brought me water and peppermint tea all day.

I mentioned it to the nurse at my next 4 week blood pressure check and she said my blood pressure was a little low. Blood tests revealed nothing wrong so I just started to learn to be careful and not get up too quickly.

I'm sure your LLC will have some good advise and if you're at all worried please go to the doctor.

Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

I had my last pack at about 8 last night, couldn't wait any longer - it just sort of sits there shouting "drink me, drink me"!
I'm sure it was something like that.
About getting to goal, it still seems a long way off and I "only" lost 1/2 pound this week. I didn't think it was physically possible to lose so little on LL....oh well.
You've done really, really well Cath as have so many others. This is an amazing diet, isn't it?

Hi Sarah
thanks for your response - I'm relieved that I am not the only person that this has happened to (not that I want it to happen to anyone else but you know what I mean). Poor you and your bin..I fell on the carpeted floor fortunately and other than a slightly tender back of the head, feel fine now.

Diana, bodies are funny things. On LL the fatloss it consistent, but your weight is made up of many different things and is influenced by lots of different factors (such as water retention, totm etc). Every 4 weeks I would have a very small loss of about 0.2 or 0.4lbs. I'm sure that that next weeks loss will be better so don't worry!

I'm glad to hear that. I did land on carpet too but it was cheap old rented flat carpet and I had a huge carpet burn on my elbow lol! Was actually woken by the dog licking my face looking puzzled as to why I was lying there!!!

I can just picture the puzzled look!
Thanks for the advice re getting up slowly and not rushing - I do tend to get up very quickly so will try and slow that down. Also the weight loss advice, I was a bit upset at the time (not binge upset, TG) but there were also a couple of other ladies in the group who had had slow weeks and made it up the following week so here's hoping.

I leapt out of bed this morning to answer the door to the postman who needed me to sign something - and he had to grab me before I fell! I came over all dizzy and lurched to the side - glad I'm not the only one! (And before you ask - No - he was not a handsome Postie - so No, I wasn't doing it deliberately ...;))

I haven't fainted yet but I am constantly lightheaded.
If I've bent down to get something out of the washing machine or cooker I always get a lightheadedness on getting up. Its a horrible feeling & I always know its coming which is worse.
I've stopped going in the sauna at the gym because that makes me very lightheaded.
I will not miss this part of the diet.
