Hi Everyone

hope you dont mind me posting on here but seeing as youve been there before i would appreciate some advice.
I have been having some bad diarrhoea since mid may and its still on going, i am on the pill (yasmin) and did not take any extra precautions.
Just wanted to know how you felt in the early stages of pregnancy? Here are some of the syptoms i have which makes me wonder.
Brown spotting
nausea but not being sick on and off through day.
cravings for egg sandwiches every day
extremley tired, get to about lunch time and i want to sleep.
lower back pain
cramping in my tummy
drinking about 2-3 litres of squash a day

I have brought a twin pack of tests today but i think its too early to test so i will wait.
I had blood tests done yesterday at the doctors regarding the diarrhoea so will get results back in 2 - 3 weeks.

If anyone has any advice for me I would much appreciate it.

Thank You
xxx

I can't really say if your symptoms are pregnancy related or to do with your ongoing diarreoa, tiredness, nausea not necessarily vomiting, abdo pain are all symptoms of early pregnancy . If you havent taken any other precautions then there is a possibility you could be pregnant? Have you been having regular periods?

I would just take a test, even if it's early. I took mine early and they showed a positive result.
Remember you can't get a false positive, but you can get a false negative!

Your symptoms are more of less how I felt at the beginning of my two pregnancies.

Good luck and I hope you get the result you want!

Hi
Thanks for your replies.
Ive never had regular periods which is whats confusing me slightly.
I am due on this week but when i had my last period it was a period as such just more like brown sludge for 2 days ( sorry bit tmi lol)
I think i will take one test tomorrow morning and see what happens. If i am id be very happy about it, although the family and bf may need convincing.
Thanks x

The 'problem' with taking the pill is that you don't have a period (well not if you're not ovulating due to the pill stopping this), you have a withdrawal bleed and this will usually happen every time you stop the pill, pregnant or not. This is why yours may not seem like blood because it's not a heavy period.

To be honest, all of your symptoms sound like they're from the diarrhoea. You're thirsty and need the extra fluids, because you're losing them constantly, the stomach cramps/upset can give referral pain around your back. Tiredness through lack of energy lost through the diarrhoea. Even the spotting could be due to the upset of balance in your system. If you want to be sure, then take a test. If the symptoms have been going for more than 2 weeks, definitely test. You can't use your pill cycle to determine your normal cycle as they can potentially be different. This is why they say, if you want to get pregnant you should ideally wait a full cycle and have an actual period once coming off the pill before TTC. Simply to give you an accurate date of conception.

I would also get onto the doctor. 2-3 weeks is a long time to wait for blood test results. It's usually a week max. Did they give you any medication or something like immodium? If you think you're pregnant then you need to check to see if you can take them, and if in doubt, phone your GP and speak to them. But take a test, and if it's negative and you're still not convinced, speak to your doctor.

I hope you get better soon though. Diarrhoea isn't nice and it drains you. Keep on the fluids, also look at isotonic drinks so you can replace the lost salts etc. in your system.
