hiya my partner always wants to get an indian on saturday if we are staying in and have a few beers, i wont deny i dont mind it either but i simply cant do it anymore if i want to lose, does anyone have any advice what slap up meal i could offer him instead or a healthy option curry to order, I feel guilty but i just cant do it anymore :sigh:

Hi hun - I have this same problem and the solution is easy....

Go to ASDA or Morrisons and buy a tin of chickpea dahl. Let him order his curry etc, make plain boiled rice at home (save money too). I empty my tin of dahl into an old take away container, so it *feels* like I'm being naughty, but am infact being syn free.

Good luck, and if that fails... have a tomato based sauce such as rogan josh xx

I'm sure there are lots of syn free indian curries etc that u can have if u make it urself. Do a search in the recipe section. If u don't want to cook urself I'm sure there r certain things that u can get from the indian thats not too high in syns. If u look under the eating out section 4 indian restaurants.

I hope that helps x

Invest in the Slimming world curry book, they look lovely and very authentic, and very low in syns.

That way you can have indian, and so can your hubby. If he wants to he can still order from the Indian and the rest of the family can have something healthier and low syn?

There's no reason why you can't have a take-away. I've had this most weeks and lost weight every week. If you do an EE day you could have chicken dhansak 6 1/2 syns, boiled rice (free), salad (free) and how about some homemade onions bhajis (1syn each) and syn free mint yogurt dip?

2 options i guess
change your weigh day to fri or sat or have t/a on weigh day
or make your own my dh actually likes home made t/a better.

if you must order go for healthy options i used to get chicken kebab meat (cube type) and put it in a asda pitta.
if he wants to order you could have your fave sw meal or prepared so you look forward to it

The most authentic tasting SW curry from the recipe book I have tried is the Chicken Jalfrezi and it is completely free. Hubby makes one from the book too for us which is really yummy but as he won't tell me which one it is I don't know how authentic it is, lol

i have found if i save ALL my syns all week i can have a take away and still lose, as long as you dont eat an insane ammount! but like someone mentioned the tinned chick pea curry is really nice i like to add peppers and spices like corriander and onions and it makes it into a different curry

We always have an Indian takeaway on a Saturday night unless we go out for one which is probably only 3 times a year. I've just stopped having the onion bahjis or samosas as starters.

If you want to make your own the only thing I've found that has the same taste is to buy the Kitchen Guru spice kits and not use the oil they say. It might be a dear way of doing it but the spices don't go off this way. Think they're around £1.99 a kit.
