Goal weight?

Hello,

How do you decide on your goal weight?
I went for 9st because i like the fact it was single figures however after looking into my BMI recently i discovered that at 5ft 3 i only need to get down to 10st exactly to be classed as a 'normal' weight and not 'overweight' which has cheered me up a lot and made me alter my final weight to anything under 10st so 9st 10lb would still be a win in my eyes.

How have you looked at your weight and goal?

xx

I just picked a number that looked reasonable according to past experiences, current weight and also BMI altho I don't fully believe in that. I figure you can always adjust your goal once you get there but I always thought it's more motivating reaching something smaller and then taking on something feasible afterwards once again.

Ideal Weight Calculator, Fitness & Nutrition - divine.ca

I quite like this link cos it considers your frame because I am rather large no matter what I do and according to my BMI, I would like unhealthy if I was that weight I'm pretty sure, people always guess I'm 20 lbs less than I really am so I don't look my weight. You should also consider that.

hi there razzyraquel! I chose my goal weight based on my previous experience of WW and having lost weight previously! Last time I did WW I reached just outside the 'healthy' weight range for my height but was perfectly happy at that weight! I think it depends on each person and there aspirations of their ideal weight!

Wishing you the best of luck on your weight loss journey

I just tried that link that Just Peachy has posted and it says I should weigh between 125-140lbs, thats 8st 13lbs-10st.
I don't think I would ever get that low, although I wish I could!

So I have set myself the goal weight of 10st 10lbs, not only will this give me a healthy bmi it will also be half of my body weight lost!
When I get down to goal weight I may decide I want to lose more or even gain a few lbs, I'll sort that out when I get there.

I dont find that link helpful at all, i have a large frame yet small wrists so my fingers touch lol it says -
130 to 145 lbs

I will never be that weight! I just chose it based on clothes size too, id like to get down to a 14 on the bottom 12 on the top which hopefully will be the goal i want

I think it's whatever you feel happy at. In my twenties I was 8 to 8 1/2 stone - but I know I'm not going to be that again. Last time I successfully lost weight I got to 9 st 4 and I felt happy with how I looked at that weight. I've a very small frame so I should probably be at the lower end of the BMI scale. I've picked 9 1/2 as my goal because I want to be able to stay at a healthy weight but one that's achieveable as I'm fed up with yo-yoing. I read somewhere that body fat percentage is more important than BMI (I know my body fat's too high as I need to do more exercise!)

I picked my goal because it's a weight I remember being (a few years ago now!) and feeling happy at, plus it seemed to fit in OK with the various BMI charts I looked at at the time.

I think the thing to remember is that you can change your goal at any time! So if your goal is 9 st, but your happy with your body at 10st when you get there there's absolutely no reason why you cant change your goal weight to 10st and maintain at that point.

It's all about what you're happy with, and I know when I was heavier I didn't know what I would look like at this weight, and equally now I still don't know what I will look like at target, so when I get a bit closer to it it could well change :)

Ive gone for 9 and a half stone, I was 9 stone at 21 and looked good but for now I just want to get below the 10 stone mark so Im in a healthy bmi and in single figures, seems a distance memory since I was in single figures!

i think i would be happy at around 10 and half stone but my bmi tells me otherwise so i have gone for 1 or 2lbs from the top end of what my bmi should be!

I've gone on how I felt at different weights previously and what's a healthy BMI for me(7st 10lb-9st 10lb for 20-25 BMI), after my son was born(he's now 7) I yo-yo'd between 9 and 10 stone, 10 felt too big for me and was much happier at 9. Then when I split with my ex-husband I spent a year hardly eating at all and dropped down to 8st. Looking back at pictures from then I was a bit too skinny so I've settled for a goal of 9st for now, I'll see how I feel once I get there and my drop it to 8st 7lb

id like to get to 10st5lbs which is the higher end of the healthy bmi scale for me no pressure only 6 more stone to lose lmfao

Diet Pills Online

you are right exercise is cool and helping..but you should take a proper diet or take a food supplement instead.Just like me I'm a busy woman and I don't have enough time to go to gym but I take a proper diet and food supplement therefore I loose 30lbs.
Ooopps btw, if you're going to ask me what food supplement, it's acaiberryzones .

My goal weight is 10st 5lb which was set by my personal trainer (it's part of my new gym membership) as it's half way between the healthy weight range for my height.

I've set myself little goals as well though as 10st 5lb is my ultimate goal and a long way off so I wanted some 'baby goals' to achieve along the way; I split it into 1/2 stone goals at a time as you can see from my signature below.

Weighing in tomorrow so will see where I end up, hopefully had a loss this week even after the wedding bank holiday weekend :ashamed0005:

I decided on my goal weight because that is what I used to weigh when I was 18 and its when I looked a lot better and I had gorgeous clothes, I could wear mini skirts, dresses, shorts and look good. Now I just look tubby. Plus its my ideal weight anyway (apparently!) I just want to look nice again and feel better.
I have a wardrobe full of clothes which are too tight. They cost me a fortune and I can't let them go to waste, they're all gorgeous things.
I'm determined to get myself looking slim again!

Hey ladies,
Interesting discussion you're having here about goal weights. Here's another take on it. oooh and I'm not here to flog the Dukan diet on you BUT his website has an EXCELLENT "true weight" calculator on it (no need to join up, pay anything or anything - but you do need to give an email address for them to send you spam to!! so use a hotmail or something different to your main one).

The things it takes into account, other than the usual height, weight, frame, etc., are "age", "number of children", "highest ever weight", "serial dieter or not", "weight at which you can stay without too much effort" etc etc. Many different questions the end result of which is probably a higher "true weight" than you might want your "goal weight" to be... but perhaps one easier to stabilise for your profile.

Anyway, give it a shot. Sometimes it's not easy to accept one's "true weight" (and I'm not happy with mine!), but I'm acceptant that perhaps - given MY diet profile - that a BMI 23 just isn't going to happen in this lifetime!!

I just did the dukan calculator and it said 10 stone 5 for me, the Devine calculator said between 8 stone 5 and 9 stone 7, thats a rather large difference!

The Duklan calculator says my ideal is 9st 4lb so thats what I was expecting, its what I used to be and what I shall be again! I'm sick of going into shops and having nothing fits me, places like Jane Norman and Lipsy sell gorgeous things but a lot of them don't fit me now - I'm determined to get into them :p

Oh I know what you mean Mango! I hate going shopping with my skinny friends who are off buying all these beautiful clothes and I feel like I shouldnt have even walked into the shop

Tell me about it! I also find that the sizes have changed now so a size 14 is a lot smaller in some shops than others, meaning that I have to try everything on which I hate as I get way too hot!
I am sick of never finding jeans which fit either, muffin top really winds me up!
