Just wondered if anybody had found a new food product or a new or unusual food that you use that you know the syn value of, even better if it is free?

Care to share? Just trying to generate a few new ideas and variation.

Thanks! :D

i know its on here but i resently food out asda split pot yogurts are free there yummy like fruit corners

People have probably discovered this before, but I hadnt until recently. Batchelors Mild Curry Rice is free on green and EE and its blinking lovely :D

Yes! I have started making my own popcorn

1oz of unpopped popcorn is 4.5 syns and this makes a big bowlful!
I put it in a heavy based pre-heated pan, put a lid on and keep swirling it over the heat and it pops without any oil. Once they have all popped I take the lid off to stop them steaming and spray with butter flavour spray-light and sprinkle with salt and paprika. You can make sweet by sprinkling with icing sugar after it has popped but you would need to count extra syns

I am sneaky and make it- put it in a bag once cooled and sneak it into the cinema
Lovely!

Asda have started selling packs of Nissin ramen noodles in pork flavour and they're amazing, you get a really big bowl full and they take 3 mins to cook! 2 syns for the pack, according to the syns calculator, and about 50p a pack. So yummy and would be even better with spring onion and sliced pork through it to make it a proper ramen dish :) Watch out for the other noodles though - there are packs which came out as 20 syns on the calculator, my bf tried a pack and they were minging, the 2 syn ones were much better!!

This isn't new really but is new to me, it's Slimming World syn free egg mayo. Boil your eggs as usual and mash them up, then add 1 tub of cottage cheese and mix together. Season to taste and serve as you wish:D don't knock it til you try it!

I think that these are fantastic, they taste like they are from KFC:

Chicken style dippers, surprisingly yummy, 16 pack, frozen, 20g each, green ½ syn, red ½ syn

That egg mayo sounds really good, going to have to try that - thanks!

Quorn fajita strips (chilled & ready to eat) are delish, they're quite expensive (about £2.50 a pack if I recall) but if you get it as part of a multi-buy deal it works out a lot cheaper. Just had some with a salad and cottage cheese for my lunch

The new ainsley harriot world kitchen rices are AMAZING!! i love them!

theres biryiani, thai, schezuan and mexican flavours! They are either free or really low in syns depending on the flavour!

Started a thread on here yesterday to recommend them to everyone who had not tried them but it got moved to syn values because I also asked if someone could check the syns for me! :(

50p a pack in asda - 15mins in the microwave and you have a tasty lunch or snack or part of dinner!

YUM :)

I've just been to Aldi and bought some sweet and sour pork shanks which are free. Haven't tried them yet but they look yummy! I adore the rosemary and mint lamb shanks from Aldi which are well worth the 3.5syns in my opinion because of the yummy gravy. They aren't the cheapest things but lovely for a special occasion. £3.69 for pork, £4.99 for the lamb. 2 per pack.:)

I love the Aldi Cook Range. The Gammon with Mango Salsa is amazing. Again, not the cheapest thing but sometimes it's nice to have something that tastes naughtier than it is :)

re the asda split yoghurts mentioned earlier are they called very low fat or similar-couldn't find them except full fat ones and I dont suppose they are free.
