Exercise - think I'm doing it wrong..

Not evil at all
Hi guys

I was at the gym last night and I done about 40 mins in total, used the cross trainer, treadmill and the rowing machine.. my friend emailed me today to ask if I was sore from it all but I'm not??! I was knackered at the time, I was starting to hurt and my face was bright red, I was out of breath and my heart was beating very fast... why am I not sore today? Am I doing it wrong? Should you be in pain after exercise..?!??! :( worried I'm wasting my time not doing it properly.

Sorry if this is a silly question! xx

Wait until tomorrow lol !!!

I only ever get a bit stiff.. no aches or pains usually. Will see how I feel tomorrow then, I did do a lot more than usual last night.

This is why i avoid exercise - obviously not good for you! ;)

When I went to the gym, I was only ever stiff for the first 2 weeks no matter how much I did. Even if my legs felt as tho they didn't belong to me afterwards!

I'm one of these sadistic types who actually like the soreness the day or two after lol! You say you're doing the cardio but are you doing any weight training? It helps to do weights when you're losing wieght to sculpt your body and tone up.

You should consider adding in some weight training as well as the cardiovascular work you're doing. Great for toning up your muscles and will help you burn more calories even when you are not exercising.

Yeah I do a little bit of exercise using the weight machines, I do the one you pull down in front of you, the one you pull in from the sides, and for the first time ever I used the leg one - no idea what these machines are called!! I can only manage 15 - 30 pushes/pulls when it's on about 3kg.. the weights hurt me more than all the other exercise so I take it easy with them.

I actually did feel a bit rubbish yesterday, stiff and tired, I think it's more of a gym hangover I get??

I would but the instructors are only there mid morning and I work full time, it's a civil service gym too so it's pretty crap for things like that anyway. Never even got an induction!

i think if u stretch and stuff before you exercise, you will reduce your aches the next day. xxxx well done for going to the gym - i cant manage to get there yet lol! xxx

Ellebear I highly recommend going along! I absolutely love the gym. I never thought in a million years that I'd actually enjoy exercising:D xxx

No one is there to judge and if they are then sod them! xxxx

nobody will judge you - they're all too busy worrying what people are thinking about them!
I agree with that - for my first week in the gym I didn't even look at anyone cos I was so embarrassed that I was the biggest there. Turns out I wasn't, but I'm in awe of all gym go-ers now - I know how hard it is :)

Does anyone else have a fear of treadmills? I tried running on one the other day, and my feet couldn't keep up even on the slow setting. Doesn't help that the treadmills are next to a window - looking through makes me feel like I'm going to fall!! Anyone got any treadmill tips to actually being able to run on it?! x

God just done some of my Davina (which I have not done for a long time :( ) and my word it kills - but this is only at the beggining when I have used the muscles in a long time. Once my lazy body gets used to it I have no pain :D But it is well worth it for the buzz. However, I HATE gyms and mirrors, yuk!

I went to the gym on holiday and 'jogged/ran' for the first time ever.....i started to speed it up to a point where i was walking vvvv fast, then just upped the speed to a jog....i did this for like half of my ipod track, then back down to a fast fast walk.

Try that - although once i was jogging and hit the emergency stop button, i nearly fell off.

Lol! x:eek:
