Big Mistakes

We had a chat about this at our meeting this week after a member found out that Tesco Value Chicken roll was 1 syn a slice, and she had been eating 3 packets a week thinking it was free! We estimated she had consumed an extra 80 or more syns a week with this mistake.

Another woman had been drinking a flavoured water that turned out to be synned, and she had been drinking 2 litres of it a day. Someone else had picked up Activia yogurts, not realising there were 2 types (fat free & synned). She had been eating 2 or 3 synned yogurts a day!

My own mistake was thinking WW Malted Danish bread was a heb, and eating 3 slices a day. Also thought I could have light philly on EE :(

Have you or any of your SW members ever made a mistake like this? Or are we just a bit thick up here :D:eek:

Ive made the same mistake with the bread, only realised the other day!

One ladies at group used to drink the nescafe latte thinking it was free but was synned. She was drinking around 5 a day!!

Its amazing how we just 'presume' things isnt it? Ive learnt my lesson and Im definatley gonna double and triple check things from now on!! xx

That bread used to be a Hex thought didnt it?

its so easy to do . I looked up the syns of lollies and couldnt beleive it when I found Nobbly bobblys were 5 syns .. so I was eating 1 ( and soemtimes 2 ) a day for 3 weeks when I found out they were actually 11 syns and I had somehow read the weight watchers points for them ..... gutted !!!

did the bread mistake for my first 2 weeks:( which explained the mear 1lb loss over the 2 weeks:eek: as i was eating 2-3 slices a day.

tesco's ready made chickens, you know the ones that you can see cooking! well i thought they were free on red but they arent:eek: again resulting in the poor loss in the first weeks:(

think thats about everything hopefully ill not make any other mistakes x

My consultant told me that there are syns in Evening Primose Oil capsules! She is not sure how many. I take two a day!!

syns in Evening Primrose oil? I'm sorry but that's verging on the ridiculous. I'd love to see something "official" to that end.

I'm not pointing this at you, but I don't see how they can possibly be a synnable item, I know its oil but seriously?

Edit: Just found this on Body Optimise FAQ

Q: How do dietary supplements fit within Food Optimising?

A: Dietary supplements should not affect weight loss if you are following Food Optimising. Supplements also do not need to be counted as Syns when Food Optimising.

Even oil capsules (e.g. cod liver oil, evening primrose oil etc) should not slow your weight loss if you are Food Optimising 100%. Because they contain so little energy per capsule, they do not need to be counted as Syns and are very unlikely to be the real reason behind a slow weight loss. If you did choose to count them, they would only count as ½ Syn per 1000mg (usually 2 high strength capsules).

Seriously that is what she said. She also said to watch for syns in cough syrup and strepsils. I am not too bothered about finding out how many syns are in the capsules and am going to keep taking them anyway!

The strepsils and cough syrup I understand as they are pure sugar and you can eat a whole pack of say, Lockets or soothers and not really realise it.

Anyhoo. 'm sure before I'm at goal I'll make some wonderful BIG mistakes of me own :D lol

I read somewhere that tikka flavoured cooked chicken was free on EE and so bought some from Aldi last night, not in sauce just cooked chicken breast with tikka spice on it...........dont know what made me check it, I ate the pack in two sittings.....the pack was 11.5 syns!!!! Grrrrr Lesson learned.
