Quark question

Hi All, anyone tried to freeze Quark. I'm going to Northern Ireland tomorrow & will hopefully be able to buy some Quark. Sainsbury's quark says not suitable for freezing but I saw somewhere that someone had frozen several tubs successfully. Thanks

Theres a lady at my group who freezes hers! I have some in the freezer but i havent defrosted and tried it yet tho!! x

Yea that was my theory, it was going to go in the bin neway so why not give it a go! lol xx

The problem with low-fat things is that they tend to separate when frozen - no fat molecules to hold it all together (well, that's my theory anyway!).

It certainly won't make it inedible, but it might look a bit odd. But then with Quark you could always beat it up with a wooden spoon and it would probably come out smooth.

What can I used instead of quark! Can't get it in ROI and it is in a lot of SW receipes

I've used very low fat fromais frais, but it doesn't taste as good as quark :cry:

Thanks, might a plan a trip to N.Ireland soon to stock up on a few things including quark!
