Sketchers Shape Ups

Blonde Logic

Yes. You can.
Good Sunday morning everyone :)

As some of you know, I have arthritis, and it has ,mainly been in my neck and shoulders and knees.

Now, bless it, it is beginning to attack my feet. <sigh>

I love walking. I was taking 6 mile walks quite happily, which was not only keeping the weight off but really keeping my legs trim, and helping my mental happiness as well.

Now, I get to the corner and I want to cry because my feet hurt so bad. My big toes barely bend and its very painful.

I miss my walks. Now more than ever, with all that is going on.

SO I just bought 2 paids of Sketcher Shape ups. Trainers and Sandals. Not for the alledged effect on muscle tone, but merely for the fact they roll forward, and I am hoping that will help with the pain and allow me to get back to my long hikes.

Just wondering, have any of you got them, or tried them on?

Just wondering what people think.

They are not the most attractive things in the world. The sandals are not horrible, but not dress worthy. lol But I am beyond vanity at this point and sick to death of pain.....so really hoping these will get me back on track.

Be interested to hear any reviews if you have them?

Thanks!

i used to have mbt trainers which are similar i think, i bought them because i dislocated my knee cap and have broken various bones in both feet so found it really painful to walk, they made a world of difference and helped to strengthen the weaker parts of my feet/knee, probably the best pair of trainers i ever bought :)

I would go to a sports shop preferebly a runnig shop and get measured and your gait (sp?) assessed. I did this and got a perfect pair of Brookes Beasts which although they are running shoes they are perfect for walking.

sketcher r brilliant

Hi, just to let u know I bought a pair of sketchers trainers because I have arthritis in my knees and thought the same thing as u and it was the best decision I ever made. I walk my dog for about 4 - 5 miles every day and I noticed the difference in my legs almost immediately. I was so impressed I bought the shoes because I'm on my feet at work throughout the day and don't wear anything else now. Hope u get the same results.:)

I have been wearing MBT trainers and Fitflops for a couple of years, and haven't had any back/skeletal trouble since I started wearing them (used to have to see a chiropractor every 3/4 months because of proper pain before, now I just have a "check-up" twice a year for very minor realignment - NO PAIN!). I'd imagine Shape-ups work in a similar way, I'm sure you will notice a difference. I don't know about them giving you shapely legs and a pert bum coz my shape and size has fluctuated so much anyway, but you can definitely feel different muscles aching for a few days when you start wearing them. If you wanted dressier sandals look at Fitflop Electra, they're sequinned ones that you can get away with wearing with skirts and pretty dresses. Very expensive, but I got mine from eBay for peanuts from a lady who'd bought the wrong size and not returned them, so worth keeping an eye out. Sorry for very long rambling post... :\

Thanks Lucy. :)

I looked first at their reccomended Stockists - ASOS, SCHUH, PURE SHOES, ets., and they were 90 quid!

Found the sandals for 55 and the trainers for 60 on Amazon. Happy with that if they get me back out there hoofing it. I really miss my walks.

Since mom died I have been holed up like a hermit, and was shocked to find in that time how bad my feet hurt when I started my short walks to work. Was very dissappointing.

So, hopefully, now, if I can get the motivation I will at least have comfort behind me. I am sick of pain. Everything hurts, but before my feet hurt, I could at least carry the sore parts around on lovely walks as it made no difference - in or out I hurt. lol

But now, with my feet painful - makes it very hard and demotivating.

Fingers crossed!

Will have a look at the spanlgy ones! :D

I have MBTs which seem to really help when I'm walking in them. I also have some personalised orthotics (insoles for my shoes) that I wear in every other pair of shoes I own and they really help my back pain and posture.
I hope you get some good results with your sketchers :)

Fingers crossed they work for you and you can get back to your 6 miles walks BL :fingerscrossed:

I do too IWGT!!! It is so maddening, to jt round the corner and feel sorely (literally!) tempted to go back and get my car!!! ARGH!!!!
I know how much that helped me to maintain, and was just good for the soul. If ever there was a time my soul needed goodness, it certainly is now!!!

Fingers crossed. :)

My boyfriend's mother has the MBT's (very similar - think Sketchers stole the idea! haha) and has been using them for about a year I think now?
I'm not sure on the fitness front - it doesn't shape you up, I think that's a gimmick, but they DO relieve tension when walking. She used to have quite a bit of pain in her toes and feet in general but finds walking easy in these. MUCH less painful.

It depends on the condition you have of course, but it's worth giving a go. :) ... Though, all I know is the bf's mum never leaves the house without them and refuses to wear any other shoe! :D And she definitely makes the effort to walk everywhere now!
