New and really need to change my life!

Hello everyone,

I'm 22 years old and have always been overweight :( I hated 'being fat' when i was younger and swore i'd never get any bigger. 7 years and stones later I know I need to change. I just need a bit more support. I'm currently 280lbs and looking to lose about 140lbs.

Over the years i've tried all sorts; Weightwatchers, Slimming World, Atkins, Slimfast, Alli and a quite a few DIY diet plans.

I'm really interested in VLCD because i find complete avoidence of food easier than self control but I don't think I would be accepted onto any of the programs like Lighterlife/lipotrim etc because I have a history of bulimia :( (I understand why this rule is there but It doesn't really help me!)

Anyway i'm not really sure which diet I want to pursue at the moment. The last one I did was slimming world and I like the idea of it because its definately the hungry persons diet. However I cant help but want to 'lose weight yesterday' so want something that will yield 'faster' results if i put the effort in.

Anyway while i decide i'm just going to eat sensibly for the next few days. I've also made the positive step of joining a gym. I still feel self conscious but i've really enjoyed it in the past so I know i wont be wasting my money. Just need to get into a routine with it!

I look forward to getting to know you all :)

Hey Rainstar, welcome to Minis.

Well done on joining the gym, with your healthy eating as well you will find you are losing weight without even trying too hard!

Good luck on finding the right diet for you.

Hiya!

You've definitely come to the right place - everyone here is very helpful and supportive :)

I'm sure you'll find the right diet for you eventually - have you thought about calorie counting? I'm probably biased because it's the diet I'm on, but it means that you don't have to cut out anything you enjoy as long as you count it towards your calorie intake (Shh! I had chocolate cake yesterday :p)

Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Hello Rainstar and welcome:D
I am so sorry to hear you sound down, there are lots of friendly people here who understand what your going through .
I find calorie counting best for me, but everyone is different. I've tried most from Atkins to Zone but the only one I can stick to for any length is the counting, I find it helps me focus and writing down my daily munchings was a real eye-opener.
I am due to start a Weight Management scheme my GP refered me to which inculeds a dietitian and psychologist, it is a leap into the unknown - but I hope will help with my food issues.
Have a happy day - eat.
Bad day - eat.
Cold day... ooo something stodgy and warm to help.
Hot day, has to be ice-cream etc etc.
Yep defo some issues there. LOL:rolleyes:
Good luck on your weight loss journey.
