Beef in the Slow Cooker..

Does anybody know if I have to put a joint of beef on those "foil balls" when cooking it in the slow cooker? I've seen it mentioned when cooking a whole chicken, I just wondered whether the same rule applies to all meat so it doesn't sit in the juices/fat all day!

Thanks

i never have sometimes sit it on some onions gives it a nice flavour:)

Sit it on some half cut onions and some sticks of celery - the beef absorbs the flavour and its yummy!!!

cant believe Im drooling over beef at 8am! xx

May sound stupid but gonna ask anyway, do you put any stock in at all? I have a small slow cooker from lakeland which is perfect for 1, can't get a whole chicken in it but could do small joints, have always assumed (and we all know what a that is ) you had to put stock in.

I put a little stock in mine, just to add to the flavour. I also put it on a bed on onions, carrots, celery and garlic.
