hey all.

Im hosting my first bbq this coming weekend and would like to know where all the hot low syn bbq foods are too? what do you suggest/recommend?


so far im making a pot salad, fruit salad, corn on the cob etc.. just want to know where to get some real low syn burgers (meat or veg, aslong as they taste gooood) and sausages. Gunna make some quiche etc..

you could try making your own burgers with extra lean mince and some spices/herbs? if you keep them in the fridge for a few hours before you cook them they wont fall apart on the barbie also there's a couple of recipes in this months mag for bbq ideas if you've got it xx

We had home made burgers tonight and they were delicious.

Roast a red pepper. when cool chop into small pieces. Finely chop an onion. Select your favourite herb, tonight I used oregano. Beat an egg with a beef stock cube until the cube has dissolved. Mix all of this with your mince meat. Shape into burgers. As Emma Louise said leave in the fridge for a few hours before cooking.

Stuffed baked potatoes. If you are on a red day make sure all the potatoes are about the recommended weight. Bake in the oven. When they are still warm scoop out the flesh, mix with cheese and chopped chives , making sure each potato has your HEA allowance only in it. Pile the mixture back into the skins........everyone can eat and enjoy SW style spuds................. These are great re heated in the oven when your guests are there.

Quorn sausages as well as normal ones.

A lovely salad is one made with layered cooked potato, beetroot, onion and hard boiled egg. Top with quark and sprinkled with grated, raw carrot.

I could go on forever but won't bore you.
