Stewed fruit and food abuse?!

Hello!

Quick question. I made some stewed apples earlier- I just chopped some apple, and simmered with some water and 3 tblsps of sweetner.

Would this be free or do I have to syn it? I was thinking it would free as apples are free and so is sweetner?

Another question- what is food abuse? I have only been to two classes and then stopped going and food abuse was never covered, but I have seen it flying on here!

Thanks for your help!!

no sorry hon if you cook fruit it becomes synned but if you look in your book you can have stewed apples as a healthy extra (b) i think.

not sure about food abuse hon tho

I could do with a good definition of food abuse as well to be honest :)

It's basically when you use a free food as a subtitute for a non free food eg. flour that you wouldn't dream of doing off plan. So couscous instead of flour, pasta n sauce in a quiche etc. Basically what they mean is that yes it's a free food but if you make a chickpea cake and eat it all you'd be consuming a far greater amount of chickpeas than you would in a meal. So even though the cake is made form free ingredients when you eat it as a snack you are eating alot of calories outside of meal times.

There are plenty of people who still lose well when they tweak things a lot but SW have said that it could well stop the good results. Some who have been on plan for years and eat the same things as they did before the food abuse issue came about say it's rubbish and does no harm. I doubt SW ever thought someone would invent a chickpea cake though so probably never thought to mention it.:D

It's never mentioned at my group so whether it's one of those things that floats around the internet but C's don't bother explaining I don't know.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for that, it makes a bit more sense now:)
