Zimara

Yummy mummy to be!
For the last 3-4 weeks i've been gaining/losing the same pound, so i've decided to track everything i eat to see if im eating enough. I've also misplaced my measuring tape, hence why the concern!!

Atkins reccomends at least 1500 kcal a day and upward to 1800. I run 3-4 times a week so im not sure i'm getting enough energy. I'm going to track using this site All Things Food and Diet - FatSecret it is american, so nc = carb-fibre (some english lables are uploaded on there but i can check them).

Just trying to figure out how to make profile public so you guys can see what im eating:p

Well, went out to lunch today. Asked for roast Pork with out the spuds and got a huge pile of stuffing! Couldn't resist a mouthful but that was it! Has some creamy garlic mushroomos for starters; without the brioche!

Reisted the creme brulee pud (my fav), got me thinking maybe i could make a sugar free one!

must be frustrating to lose the same lb!!!

good luck with the tracking, hope it helps x

Hang in there love.

Finished todays dairy. If it wasn't for the pork belly, i don't think i would have got over 1500 kcals today, couple that with a 3 mile run this morning.......

Updated as i ate some berries and cream, got a few more kcals and carbs in :)

Rarely see belly pork in my LIDL, the only time i did was paprika marinated ones and they werent to hot. I'll keep an eye out though.

Are they slices or the while rack?

updated to show my dinner, total kcal for the day was 1389. Wasnt really enough as i went for a run.

Going to have some whipped cream after dinner.

The last two days haven't had any belly pork and i've struggled to get over 1500 kcals. I'm seriously just not hungry, however since i know im not getting enough i can "top up":)

Didn't run today but i'm seriously gonna have to eat more on those days!

Weigh in day today and i STS. Really not happy but going to stick with it.

I really don't think i get enough calories (unless im eating pork belly) for my level of activity so i'm going to try and up my calories considerably on the days i exercise.

If that doesn't work i'll go back to induction for a week to try and give me a boost.

Zimara, if it's any consolation I found that when I'd worked my way up to three 5k runs a week I was unable to lose any weight and I was falling asleep all the time. Granted it was on a very low cal plan, but I'm sure all that aerobic exercise doesn't agree with me when I'm in lipolysis.

I gave up exercise for a while but have now committed to a weights-centred program with just a little aerobic burn (in comparison to 5k runs).

Reading through the Atkins book again the other night, I found myself nodding at the bit where he explains about people who have hyperinsulinism finding it difficult to convert calories to energy, and it gets stored straight as fat instead. It made real sense in my case. :(

I know what a buzz ;) you get from running, but personally I've decided to wait until I get close to goal before starting to push myself so much again. It'll only take me a couple of weeks to get back to 5k endurance and by the time I've lost more weight I'll probably be ready for a crack at 10k anyway! :D

Hi Steve and thanks for your post.

I don't really understand the science but i find it hard to believe that my running in stalling me, isn't cardio supposed to assist with weight loss?
Having said that after some runs i felt so exhausted for the rest of the day, my legs would literally ache! This is why i've started calorie counting to see if im getting enough, which i don't think i have been.

I'm not entirely sure i want to stop running, it's the only exercise i do. I am also running the Great South Run in October so I don't really want to lose any of the fitness i've built up.

I was going to back to induction to see if i can shake this stall, not sure thats a great idea either.....

I may cut my runs down to 3 a week.

Think i'd better go back and read the book.

Did fill in yesterdays diary, the only food i ate that was my own was breaskfast!!

Went on a work team bonding day yesterday, it was BBQ and salad for lunch but i not usre on the carb content of the burgers and sausages.

For tea i had left over chinese, plain ribs and pork shop suey.

Way to go with the running, it really is quite enjoyable isn't it? I never thought I'd hear myself say that! :D

It might be completely different in your case, but Atkins' writing suggested that I'm still in a state where my insulin converts far more of my carbs to fat than energy. The more I ate to try to compensate, the more fat got generated and I wasn't getting any more energy out of the deal, hence all the sleeping and lethargy.

I dunno, maybe I've got it all wrong, and I've just recently switch from very low cal to low carb anyway so it could be a completely different story.

How long have you been running? I'm wondering if you could be adding muscle mass that makes it look like your weight loss is stalling? :D

Best wishes for your training for the October run!

I've been running now for about 4 years on and off! I'm a seasonal runner; as soon as spring breaks im out there and when the cold and dark set in; im outta there!

I love it too and also never thought i'd hear myself saying that!

This year i've been running since March, so i doubt it's got anything to do with muscel mass.

Thank you very much for your input, it's really interesting to hear from someone who unstands the science bit! Will take everything to suggested on board and maybe cut down to 3 a week rather than 5!
