I have an extremely good relationship with my mother, she gives good advice and is always fair and honest.

BUT.....

She keeps saying to me ''well I don't know why you just don't book yourself in for a Cesarean at 39 wks".
Argh!!!

It's driving me mad.

My mother hasn't had a section with me nor my sister and therefore has no idea about how it feels, makes you feel like emotionally, and also say's things like "I don't know why you want to push a baby out of your foof, it's not that great you know". :sigh:

I have told her why I want to do it but she keeps saying these things and it's only right now after our phone coversation I feel like say F* off!

I know she will never understand but I would just like a bit of support, things like, well it's your choice and I hope it works well and you get the birth you desire or anything nice really rather than, just have a section! :(

Sorry to rant but it's really SERIOUSLY P*ING ME OFF!

Thanks for reading! :)

I think she is probably just concerned and thinks its the safest thing to do  I said something very similar to my SIL recently as she couldn't decide whether to go for a VBAC or not. I am the same as your mum and had all vaginal births so don't know personally the emotional and physical implications of having to have a c section. I don't think it helps either with all these celebs choosing a c section cos its 'convenient' and seen as 'easier' which I do know not to be the case. I think when you are in the throws of a very painful labour a section seems like an ideal solution so why wouldn't someone want one if offered? Is kind of what you think. So I am guilty too .
I really do hope you get the birth that you desire as its important to you but don't be too hard on your Mum as you say you have a good relationship and I am sure she just sees it as the safest option for you ;) Take care, Jo
PS off to ring my SIL to offer some support

LOL thanks for the reply jo!

I do understand where she is coming from, because I'm still her girl and she wants what she feels is safest for me. I think also after I had my daughter my mother told me about a dream she had about me dying during child birth, and she was very upset telling me and it even made me cry, and I new she was on pins when i went into labour.

I just want her to see i'm not going to jeopardize my life or the life of my child just to have a virginal birth.

I'm sure your sister in law will really appreciate any support and someone to talk to xxx
