AAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! Blooming phones!!!

There are times like this I hate technology.

Up until yesterday (technology wise) everything was plodding along as normal then bang! My itunes stops working properly and will not sync with my iPhone.

Off to the internet to trawl through endless advice and FAQ pages of usless gumff that doesn't really make any sense and contradicts itself. I manage to complete the basics of turning off and on the phone, the computer, itunes, then repairing/reinstalling itunes yadder yadder yadder. In the end I come to the conclusion that it's gonna have to be a phonecall to the apple support team (when I finally managed to find the deeply hidden phone number).

Call 1) A man with a really sexy thick French accent who I probably really annoyed, as I kept asking him to repeat what he was saying (i'm partially deaf) managed to wipe my phone, loose all of my contacts, photos AND calender dates BUT that's ok because at least he saved my music and apps (well that's ok then). After 50 mins and 1/2 way through the music download said he'd leave me to it and everything should be ok.
WRONG!!!!!

Call 2) Another man, again with another sexy accent (although not sure where from) managed to get the downloads re imputting into my phone and again left me with a ref. no to call back if any other issues.
ISSUE!!!!!

Call 3) After having my phone wiped and loosing all my contacts, photos and dates THE SAME PROBLEM IS STILL THERE!!
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Man no. 3 another accent, this time a northern accent promptly forwards my call onto GOD AKA a top supervisor as it's my third call. Step up man 4....and guess what? You got it....another sexy accent this time Mr. Sexy Voice from Cork. Ok, now although i'm totally stressed (I was supposed to be going out shopping with my sister today but so far this phone episode has taken 4 hrs!!) Mr. Sexy voice from Cork instantly takes all of my agression and anger away....although the voice still has to work on my frustraition and stress .

Anyway after another hour adding bits onto my comp and taking it off we finally found that the back up file is corrupted. GREAT so really have lost everything. However, he knows of a couple of other back ups I may have used when 1st starting up and back pops my contacts and dates. Thank god for that and at least I now have a 3rd and 4th back up set up ontop of the standard back up for the future.

However, have still lost all of my photos AND........I still cannot sync at the issue is STILL there.

He went off to find out what it could be as we seem to have exhausted all of the usual suspects that can cause this and will hopefully be phoning me back with the answer in a few hours.

So, no shopping, lost all my pics and vids of my baby niece and I STILL have the same issue I started the day with......the only plus side is that all this stress and worry might have worn off a pound or to? Here's hoping anyway....

Will keep you updated to see if Mr. Sexy Voice will save the day

Still no phone calls. Think Mr. S. Voice has given up the ghost.

Looks like I might be back on the phone to Apple tomorrow

Yep and the latest download for the phone too. The strange thing is that the error code that keeps coming up is unknown to them or at least not a common error code that pops up. I guess that's what is causing them the delay in calling me back to fix it.

Any other ideas though will be greatfully received.

That does seem a little odd!
I know I've been having a few problems with the new iOS4, such as my phone being a lot slower. I know not long ago that there was an error that came up with the new iTunes, and that in some cases it was necessary to go back to an earlier version.

I'll ask my boyfriend, he's a Apple nerd and goes on some crazy forums that perform miracles, and I'll let you know if I find anything out xxx

Oooo that would be great thanks. The error code that keeps coming up is error(-20) and think it has something to do with a corrupt back up file but that's as far as we know.

Error 20 is a general error indicating meaningless information. Being as you've lost most of your info anyway, have you tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it again?

Thanks for your help Alcoholiday. Yes i've uninstalled and reinstalled (I had an issue with itunes a few months ago and had to do the same, although that time it had something to do with Bonjour not working properly) so i'm quite used to that proceedure.

It just seems utterly bizarre that it just happened out of the blue as I hadn't updated or downloaded anything.

Any more thoughts though will be greatly appreciated

It's when I read posts like this I thank G*d I was a teenager in the 60's! We had phone boxes! My mobile does all sorts, but it's in my handbag for if the car breaks down.

God I hate ITUNES - won 2 IPODS and sold them, yukky tings they are, like simples why does everything have to be so bloody complicated!!!
