The SW group Raffle

Hey guys,

I have sat here and complained about the raffle that we have in group and thought it should be changed. Last week the con asked if anyone would pick up the raffle and I voluntered.. although I would like to get some nice things.. she said like £7 and that does not leave me alot! I also thought I should get some fruit and veg as I didn't want to go too far away from the norm..

So my idea was to pick up a milk and cereal pot thing that they are doing in Morrisons for £2.99 but that only leaves me just over £4 to get fruit and veg.. me thinks maybe I should just get fruit and veg :-( what do you wise people think??

Do you have the "Family Feasts for a Fiver" book? In our raffle we tend to have ingredients for a "featured recipe". Maybe you could get ingredients for a meal like that?

if you got some fruit and veg from a market stall, that money would go a lot further!

cor I wish I went to your groups. our raffle is usually a baking tray or a candle

We've had the cereal on the go pots a few times in our raffle too - our raffle is sometimes alchohol which suprises me and if you dont drink then you won't do the raffle as I dont. We also have recipe ingredients sometimes, that can be quite interesting - last week it was the ingredients to make a free tomato soup - cold one, was quite pleased not to win as it was 2 tins of chopped tomatos, a tin of baked beans, a couple of other things I don't remember but weirdly enough a jar of pickled onions and you were meant to add 2, the mind boggles.

I think this is a brill idea.

Our C usually brings food for the raffle but things which you often forget are free/hex, for example shops own 'weetabix' or Asda's Dahl (?).

Our raffle can be ingredients for one of the recipes in the magazine. Or food - some weeks it is all free food, some with syns. Or super food and then super speed food. Some weeks it is a free class for a week or a pick at something form the books they have. And some weeks we just do not have one!

ours is always a few food items...free or low syn.
i won it this week and got a box of bran flakes, teeny box passatta,6pk of babybels and a can of pepsi max.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, we don't have a market stall for fruit and veg around here. I was thinking about getting the cereal milk on the go pot then a box of cereal and fruit that can be used on it, thinking about the super six from Aldi to make the money stretch further so cherries, peaches, necturines and then a bunch of bananas or summit!
Dont particularly wanna tip up with a tin of beans! lol

try looking at magazines for receipies and getting the ingredients for that. If your consultant will give you next week's password - then maybe something tied into that (if it's a food item based password, maybe look for receipie that features that item in a prominient form?)

.

like that idea SWChick - the basic kits aren't that expensive if you look around. then they just have to add whatever it is they want to add. and very low syn at that...

mmm isnt it fab? i loooove sushi couldnt believe how low in syns it is!!! Someone suggested today that its 4.5 syns on green so maybe because extra easy is free fish and rice it should be halfed too 2.5 syns? what do you think Ian?

I only buy from Tesco or M&S, and it ranges for the cheaper packs (the £1 to £2 packs) between 1 and 2.5syns a pack on green/EE. They don't seem to differeiniate that on EE the fish may also be free for some reason + sushi vinegar will have had some sugar added.

Now, if i was making my own - then I'd have full control of the ingredients and potential is there to make it syn free (though not sure if the vinegar would work without the sugar) or even lower syns.

lmao you didn't have a lady called Sam covering your team did you? We had similar raffle and my nan won and we tried the soup and it was horrible lol. I sat and ate the tin of beans cold and the pickled onions straight from the jar lol. I don't do fussy food.

Just an idea what about getting together a few new things from the magazine such as low syn food, healthy extras etc
I know when i read the magazine i love getting to the new stuff bit and if you had a selection of things people had not tried they might make them really want to win it.

An example would be

Mullerlight New York Cheesecake Style Yoghurt = 60p = 1 syn
Mullerlight Strawberry Cheesecake Yoghurt = 60p = 1 syn
Primula Cheese Light 150g tube = £1.30 = Healthy Extra
Ryvita Sweet Onion Crispbreads = £1.15 = Healthy Extra
Ryvita Cracked Black Pepper Crispbreads = £1.15 = Healthy Extra

That kind of thing i think would go down well and you can get lots of individual prizes or put them together as a group of things. The person who then wins, could tell you all what they were like next week and so on...
