Hi all,

I'm thinking about joining SW and would like to lose a stone in a month, is this possible? I would like to lose 2 stone in total.

Thanks

Kathleen

Hi Kathleen, it is possible but if it varies for everyone. I lost a stone in 2 weeks BUT I had 10 stone to lose in total so I suppose thats the equivalent of someone with 2 stone to lose losing 5lbs or so. Also I would imagine what your diet is like now will make a difference to how big your weight losses are. Mine was very bad so even if I had carried on with all the treats I was having I would have lost weight by just changing my meals to begin with if you see what I mean. If your diet is pretty good now you may find your weight loss a bit slower because your changes are not as drastic. xxx

Hi KM,

The average loss expected by SW is 1lb a week. It is possible to lose more than that but as said above it varies for everyone.

This plan is a life plan and not designed to help people loss stones in minutes. If you would like to join SW and follow the plan 100% you may lose a stone but no-one could guarantee this for you

xx

There was a consultant in the magazine a few years ago who lost 3 stone in 3 months and had kept it off for 7 years!!!! So yes it is possible, but personally I wouldnt expect to lose that quickly as you may be dissapointed if you dont.

Often slimming is about the journey and how you get there, not just getting there fast. Personal opinion anyways.

I hope you do very well here at SW, keep us updated of your progress. xx

Hello Km

I think a stone in the first month can be done, as your biggest loss will be in the first week as long as you stick to the plan 100% and as Pesty said, its a life plan, so once you've lost weight you need to carry on that change of food plan for life, or you'll just gain it all over again. Good luck with this, just stay 100% all of the time and the weight will come off, maybe not in 2 months though, but I would say 1.5 stone is do'able. x

I honestly think that with 2 stone to lose it is unlikely you will lose a stone in a month.
You may lose half a stone in the first 2 weeks, this is quite common, but after that it will be 1-2lb a week. I'd say it would be more like 6-7 weeks to lose a stone.

Why rush? The weight will come off if you follow the plans. SW is not a drastic diet.

Good luck.

I lost just under a stone in a month, 13.5lb to be exact, so yes it's possible, but everyone is different. I also did exercise every day. But for some people, even sticking 100% to plan, it might not be that great a loss in a month. As said, the average is 1-2lb a week.

Great, balanced responses from everyone as usual. It's a bit of a 'how long's a piece of string' question? We all lose at different paces. I lost about 4 lbs in my first month but have consistently lost since October and am now nearly 2 stone (just an ickle half to go) lighter, with a total of 3.5 stone to lose in total. SW advocate 1-2lbs loss a week and anymore than that is a bonus xxx

Thanks hun. Need to spread the love around a bit more, did try to rep you back xxx

Good Luck!!! You can do really well in 4 weeks if you stay focussed! Try and use lots of speed foods and drink lots and lots of water - you could probably lose a few pounds just through water retention if you're not currently drinking enough! xx

Is it possible? It can be. But it's going to depend on all sort of factors - the least of which is how much you have to loose and how much food optimising is going to differ from your normal diet...

What I would say though is this - it isn't a race, aim for the stone but don't be disappointed if you don't (for whatever reason) make it. but Slimming World/Food Optimising is there as a long term, life long habit, not a quick fix.

Good luck though and hope you get there.

Good luck Kim1980 - I think a lot of us join a group or start a plan hoping to see fast results - I don't think its all our fault, so many celebs, magazines, plans out there giving us what is sometimes false hope and unrealistic expectations.

Personally I started SW just wanting to take anything off - any loss would do (but secretly hoping that this time the fat loss fairy would visit every night) - I've settled into a 1 1/2 - 2llb a week loss and the time has flown - more than happy to have lost a stone in 8 weeks and at the same time found a way of eating healthily - I feel I'm beginning to think and eat like a slim person - that has to be good.
