Starting Lipotrim - Medical Form

Hi there,

I started on LT last week, and am doing well so far. Talking to another friend who's been on LT, and reading the official site it, I understand that there's a medical form that should be completed, and blood pressure should be taken. My pharmacist hasn't asked me any medical questions, or taken my blood pressure - should I be concerned about this?

Thanks x

Hello Wilhelmina,

I started last Friday with the Co-OP and I had to go through a medical form and sign something. But no BP tests or anything. Might be worth popping back in and asking (and if BP is a concern, I'd go and check it with your GP nurse to be sure) Best of luck

Good thinking about a quick check up with the GP - although I've never had problems with blood pressure, it doesn't hurt to check!

I think the thing that scares me a little is that he didn't even ask if I was diabetic - surely you'd have to be really careful about this diet if your were diabetic??

Good luck x

It does sound weird they did no medical history... you can do this diet if your diabetic as long as your not taking certain drugs like metformin.

Im a diabetic on Metformin and filled in a health questionaire at the chemist and they didnt say anything to me and this is my 5th week on LT my sugar levels are fine but I have stopped my insulin

Interesting to know - thank you. I just feel a little worried that my pharmacist hasn't asked anything about my medical history, or if I'm on any medication. He's only weighed me because I asked him to - he said he doesn't need to weigh me, I can do it myself......from what I hear others saying, it just doesn't seem as though he follows the guidelines that lipotrim say he will.....not sure whether I should let lipotrim know about this? What do you think?

May be worth a tip off to them....as he should have taken your medical history just incase there are any contra-indications.......and you should also get weighed.....some pharmacies do check your bp but others dont........

Good luck x

Thanks Sonya......I'll drop them a line.....x

my chemist asked me to take home a medical form and a dvd then when i went back went through the form with me. when i go weekly he checks a urine sample (for ketosis) and weighs me. perhaps you are better talking to them x x x

I'd say give them a call and notify them of the issues that have not been checked by your pharmacist.

advice to those starting any diet with or without any other health problems should go to the gp and get given the best advise whether or not to take on the challenge of a weight loss regime. Just for peace of mind if not anything else. aswell as if one is on any medication your meds may need to changed to something more suitable that will help while your body makes dramatic changes.

Hope this helps

HI i was worried i wasnt able to do this diet because i was on thyroxine ,blood pressure tablets and anti depressents but he said every thing was fine and i could start. i asked if i needed some sticks or a sample bottle to check about the ketosis he said as i was losing weight i didnt need to do it. i really think your pharmasist is not doing much at all cos they have records and you get a weight card. i would be complaining.
good luck hope it all works out.Ann

wow charleysangel your weight loss is amazing well done x x

Thanks for all your replies.....my pharmacist got worse and worse - leaving me completely without food one week, as he'd gone on holiday, and not left instructions for anyone to be able to order it in for me!!!

I reported all of the problems to lipotrim (and there were many more than I've put here). They seemed very concerned, but I'm disappointed to say that that was three weeks ago, and lipotrim haven't followed up with me at all.

I've got a new pharmacist now, but I can't say I'm all that impressed with lipotrim as a business.....

OMG that is shocking, they ran out of shakes so you had to stop the diet or did they get some from somewhere else? And boo to LT for not taking this seriously. Its their own fault if they lose custom now due to word of mouth or someone reading this and being put off!
Well done on the new chemist, hope it wasnt too disruptive for you.

Thank you.....I was lucky, the wife of a colleague at work happens to work in a pharmacy that do the lipotrim programme, so they were able to bring me in emergency rations - so no break in the diet!!

I still hope lipotrim will contact me - if not, I do intend to phone them, as it really does need taking seriously.

Hope it's all going well for you x

Good luck with LT HQ.

Unfortunately it seems they are still the same regarding taking people's complaints seriously and doing anything about them. Last year I sent a recorded delivery letter with a list of things people on here wanted putting to them and did receive a reply which was nothing really but defensive. If you're interested you'll find the details if you do a search but there was no resolution.
I sent a follow up letter but didn't send it recorded delivery as I felt I'd opened up a channel of communication so it shouldn't be necessary. I didn't receive a reply and decided that I'd given it all enough energy over many weeks and needed to let it go.

I swear by LT and it's effectiveness. What I WOULD say though is that people using it need to be sensible and able to take care of themselves because the care from the pharmacies is 'patchy' at best.

You're doing really well, don't let it put you off. I'm glad you've got a new pharmacy and hope they treat you better. xx

Worst nightmare! Imagine turning up at the pharmacy and them not having any lipotrim left!!

Glad it worked out for you W, but you were so lucky to get it elsewhere - most people wouldn't have a mission. And boo to lipotrim for not handling complaints well. They make a lot of money from folks, the least they should do is handle any problems properly. :0(

Jan - thank you so much for telling me about that. It's so disappointing that a company with a great product doesn't see to understand the need to good customer service, and protection of it's brand. When I spoke to them on the phone, they really seemed to care about what I was saying, but I guess that words can be easy. The pharmacy in question are still on the list on their website, so it doesn't look as though any actions been taken.

For them to completely ignore a letter from you - that really is shoddy service!! Leaves a nasty taste in the mouth (apart from the bad breath I've got at the moment - haha).

Thanks everyone for the supportive message - I'm just delighted that I was able to find a pharmacy that is supportive, instead of one that makes every step of this (already difficult) journey more taxing!

Good luck, and thanks for the comments x
