Hi. I have lost a total of 42 pounds through eating sensibly and exercising quite a lot (gym, running, cycling etc), but I want to lose a further 14 pounds and no matter what I have done i cant lose it and have stayed at the same weight for the last 4 weeks.. I have cut my calorie intake down to 1000 cals per day and increased cardio work outs and also my resistance work. Does anyone know what else I can do. Many thanks

You could see how cutting down works but if not have you considered increasing your calories ever so slightly for a week or two? Sometimes our bodies need just a few more calories when we're training extra hard or it goes into starvation mode. Maybe change your workouts too because our bodies can get used to doing the same thing. Good luck!

I was told the same thing yesterday, when training you need to up your calories rather than cut them, your body apparently cant cope with a to big a gap between what you eat and how many calories you burn in the gym.

Apparently its a bit like a car running out of petrol, it wont work to well.

I have been going to the gym for a few weeks now and wondered why my weight was not decreasing considering how much I was doing, only to be told to increase my food intake a little, I did this and lost 3 1/2 lbs this week. :D

1000 calories does not seem a lot if you are working out

good luck

Thank you both for your advice. I will try increasing calories slightly for the next few weeks. Congratulations on your losses by the way x
