"Before I Fall"

*Cupcake*

is working hard.....
I have just finished reading the most incredible book and just have to recommend it to everyone.

Its called 'Before I Fall' by Lauren Oliver and it simply is one of the best books I have read in a very long time.

If you are in need of a simply awesome book this summer - this is it.

xx

What is it about, I have just finished reading Russell Brand bio which is light and humerous :)?

Have a read of the page on Amazon to get an idea - there is humour but it's a very moving and astonishingly raw book about life, death, chances, friendship and taking responsibility. If you liked 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold or 'Before I Die' by Jenny Downham, then this will be a similar experience. The reviews on Amazon are similarly extraordinary.

I couldn't put it down and despite finishing it, I can't stop thinking about it! You will need a box of tissues.

Dudette - oh wow, thats fabby! Please let me know what you think of it - we could have our very own MiniMins Book Club!

xx:)

I read that last month! I thought it was amazing. My favourite book is 'The lovely bones' and I don't know if you've read 'Before I die' but that's simply amazing too.

I seriously got through it in a day, I read it on my breaks from work, took it home and sat on the sofa for about six hours ploughing through it cos I could'nt put it down. Simply amazing. The way it all started coming togther in the last few days.....so sad :(

I can also recommened anything by Lisa Jewell - 'The truth about melody brown' is my favourite. 'The post birthday world' by Lional Shriver, anything by Dorothy Koomson, 'Eat pray Love' by Elizabeth Gilbert.....

I'd really love some recommendations x

I am an avid reader and always looking for something to read. Our best source of English books here is Charity Shops.

I shall look for some of these titles and let you know..............

Ooh, I love Dorothy Koomson and Lionel Shriver! I also really like Jodi Picoult and Lesley Pearce, Jodi Picoult because although she has the common theme of court cases through her books, I love how she takes a character per chapter and really explains each ones feelings in relation to the common storyline. And Lesley Pearce because she just tells such a good story.

Ditto, have got "Marshmallows for Breakfast" to read by Dorothy Koomson, after i've finished reading to "Handle with Care" by Jodie Picoult. Great reading.

Before "Handle with Care" i read Ozzy Osbournes biography. Bloody brilliant. couldnt stop laughing through most of it.

Marshmallows For Breakfast is ace. Im reading House Rules by Jodi Picoult at the moment, well, I was, but Im in a "not bothered to read" spell at the moment, but I will get back to it. Handle With Care was very good too.

I read another Dorothy Koomson book last year, called "my best friend's girl" hopefully that is the correct title. it was ace, cried at the beginning. (not giving it away to anyone) found it quite an easy read.
Have only read a few Jodi Piccoult books, Handle with Care, Salem Falls, My sister's keeper (which was a completely different ending to the film) and my fav one so far, Vanishing Act.
I go through the non-reading vibe at times too, thats why i make the most of it when i can be bothered to read.

Cupcake - I'm well on my way through Before I Fall! I think it's fab so far, and totally different to the kind of books I usually read! :D xxx

Yes - me too. It was recommended to me by a good friend as a 'must read' and I'd not have picked it up otherwise.

But having read it I honestly can't stop raving about it! I keep thinking about Sam, and her 7 days. There is such a powerful lesson in their for us all about making a change to each day, and getting a different result, and that we don't have to be what others expect.

Glad you are enjoying it Dudette - let me know when you finish! xx

The time travellors wife was fantastic.

just got my best friends girl out at the library and am reading I Did Tell, I Did which is a true story of neglect by Cassie Harte heartbreaking.

The death list by paul johnston was fantastic

Also for light reads marian keyes is really good.

Well I finished Before I Fall last night, and I have to say I thought it was a really great book. I'm not going to give anything away as people will want to read it themselves, but all the way through there was a part of me that hoped that, against all reason, there could be a different ending :) xxx

Me too hon. I still do! xx

I'm now moving on to a book called Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I think you'd like it Cupcake! xxx

I'll definetly look it up - thanks Dudette :) . I'm onto 'The Secret Intensity of Everyday Life' by William Nicholson, which quite frankly is an anti-climax and I think (unless it improves dramatically in the last 100 pages) I will be quite pleased to finish!

xx

any chance anyone is interested in changing the title of this thread to the book club or something?
We can review books for one another?
