Flavoured Coffee

Hi All

Just a quick question - was wondering past Whittards and saw they do a really wide variety of very tempting flavoured coffee - does anyone know if we are allowed these on LL or is it just regular coffee?

PS - Strawberry ice-cream - OMG its yum!

I'd read the labels very carefully - if they're flavoured they must be adding something and if it's sugar (or any thing ending in -ose - they're all types of sugar) or citric acid, it could knock you out of ketosis. It certainly sounds interesting but it might be too good to be true....

It's a no for Cambridge, so I'd be surprised if it was allowed on LL

Thanks - awww - never mind - it was worth a try!

I used to guzzle Boater's flavoured coffee - black, of course. It didn't seem to make any difference to my SS-ing, nor to my rate of weight loss.

In fact, had it not been for Boater's I'd never have acquired a taste for black coffee! Funnily enough I haven't bought any in ages.

Variety is everything when SS-ing but of course if people prefer to stick to strict guidelines, that's fine.

I used to use the boaters stuff.(before I came over all sensitive to caffeine & therefore no coffee) but strangely can't find it now.On the back there's nothng in it beyond coffee & flavouring, unlike some other makes that have sugar& what not in.

Karion you don't give a reason for the NO.
What illegal substance does it contain?

I know CD don't recommend them, possibly because they can start off cravings:confused:

Never heard any other reason why you can't. Perhaps it's one of those things that you could try and see if it works okay for you.

Having said that, if you try and it does set off a craving that you give in to, then I suppose there is a chance that might be the end of your Golden Time. You know, that special time before your first ever cheat.

CD say no as you are not allowed any flavourings to be added to anything.

This includes cake flavourings like vanilla, brandy, rum etc.

Fascinating..so what do they put in the shakes if not flavourings?

I've justhad a look at the back of my whittards flavoured cofee jar. It is just cofee & flavour & it states 'sugar & calorie free'
so the problem is more in the food cravings end than the upsetting ketosis end?

In the formulation of the diet everything is researched and tested anything outside of that can cause cravings in some. The diet is extremely finely tuned. As CDC's we can only advise based on that research.

This is even one of the accreditation questions can you use flavourings the answer is no.

thanks linda.that makes sense.
