Hi all

Ok have done my weekly shop for my practice run for xenical....

Can i just get one thing straight:
Can you eat ANYTHING that is less than 5g of fat per 100g?

Its just that i have done my shop and i checked all the labels and i have found i have been able to have low fat tikka masala sauce (asda version, 2g of fat per 100g) and asda good for you rice pudding (0.2g of fat per 100g) also weight watchers garlic dough balls (4.6g of fat per 100g)

Is this right?

Its just i dont wanna get in to the swing of things and start enjoying these foods only to start the xencal and find i have nasty side effects :(

Any advice much appriciated!!!

If it's 5% fat or less then yep you can have it :D And everything you have listed is less than 5% fat.

as long as you dont eat more than the 15g per meal you should be fan dabby dosie.!!!!
ive had the asda curry one before, and its quite nice!!

Thanks ladies, had the tomato and basil chicken pasta ready meal from asda for lunch and was lush :p

I have been writing down all fat and calories but i havent been having 15 g per meal, have had quite a lot less, does this matter?
xx

No, that's fine. I find I am under in some meals and then maybe a shade over in others but it all balances out, 15g is just the maximum.

That doesn't matter at all, as long as you don't go over 15g per meal, or 45g for the day :)
Xenical works by eliminating a third of the fat in each meal. This will always be the case whether that meal contains a lot or a little fat.

Say your meal contains 9g of fat, your body gets 6g to use/store, and 3g passes out in your bowel movements.
If that meal contained 15g of fat, your body would get 10g, and 5g would pass straight through.

So the equation is still the same, it's just the quantities of fat being absorbed (or not) is slightly different. There's no magic amount that you need to eat in order for the Xenical to work, and in fact, it's best to eat as low fat as you reasonably can, because then you're accustomed to doing it in preparation for when you don't need the tablets anymore.

Say you went off the rails and ate a meal with 60g of fat, your body would absorb 40g, but the other 20g would pass in your bowel movement, and this is where the side effects will start to show. The Xenical is still doing the same job it always does, but the amount of fat passing out of your body is greater, meaning that you're more likely to get the 'tango effect'.
As long as you stay within the Xenical rules, the amount of fat being eliminated will be so small that you won't 'see' it (sorry for being so graphic!).

Hope this helps!!
