My dad is coming here for a visit on the 1st July and is going to pack me some store cupboard ingredients in his case for some items which we can't get here.

So I am after some suggestions please for syn free items or HE's that I can get him to get for me as the majority of the stuff is not available to us here.

Obviously fresh items are a no go though.

Thanks

Get as many packets of alpen lights as possible!!! Maybe some options hot chocolate (2 syns a pack). Baked beans? Might be heavy though... If you like ryvitas or finn crips you could have those as well, oooh or maybe some ryvita minis? The sweet chilli one is delicious!

Britmum can i ask you a quickie question!?
My bf recently went to america and brought me back some nopudge brownies. do you know how many sysn they are with the yogurt being free?

I calculated them as about 5.5 syns each I think. Which is still quite a few syns, but if you serve with fresh fruit and some light aerosol cream they are rather satisfying and taste like REAL cake.

which alpen lights are okay as a HE? and which are the nicest? Luckily we can get baked beans here and ryvita's so am okay for those.

Thanks!
Personally i like the berry Alpen lights or the choc orange ones.
Fibre plus bars might be a nice thing to get also if you dont get those there.

that is 5.5 syns per brownie by the way, which you probably understand, but someone asked on my blog a while back thinking it was that for the entire box lol

Muller Light yoghurts, should stay okay on a flight? Very yummy when mixed up with the Alpen Light bars. Summer Fruits bar is the best IMHO, Chocolate & Fudge is okay for satisfying a choc craving but the bar is tiny, probably only about 3 inches long :( SF is a bit bigger! Chocolate & Orange is also quite nice, haven't tried the Apple & Raisin one yet...

xxx

How about sugar free jelly ?-I get them sent to me out here as I can only get strawberry :p

Chocolate fudge is my number 1 flavour! I also love the apple & raisin one. The summerfruit is a bit tart IMO, choc fudge tastes really indulgent, a real chocolate fix!

Can you get Kellogg's Fibre Plus Cereal Bars out there? If not, defo get some. One as a healthy extra...reallllly yummy :) and defo Alpen Lights...I prefer the Apple & Raisin ones :)

How about some snack a jacks and some of the different quorn sandwich slices, the peppered beef is the best one, they should be fine out of the fridge just for the flight. Sugar free jellies, mini rivetas, kelloggs fibre extra bars (these are just amazing) and option hot chocolate sachets would be good too - these can also be used in fat free fromage frais to make lovely deserts and also in home made SW icecreams. If I think of anything else I'll add it here

thanks everyone, I will add some Alpen lights to my list. Sugar free jelly we can get here in all sorts of flavours, so am okay for that, not sure yoghurts will be allowed through customs and it is a 8+ hour flight so think they would be yucky with the heat.

I think I have seen the kellogs bars here, so will double check for those.

How about pasta n sauces, savoury rices, mug shots etc which of those are good?

Also any low syn crisps, they dont really do any good variety low fat crisps here and I miss them.

Oh and they also dont do squash, so might have to get him to bring a bottle of orange and pineapple (my fav lol)

I so wish he could bring some meat, as I have been craving lamb shanks in mint gravy or lamb pieces for a curry, but you just cant get shanks here at all and the lamb cuts you can get are not very nice lol.

Will only be allowed packet stuff etc through customs, so that means no fresh meats etc and quorn is not allowed to be sold here either, as the Canadian food board won't approve it.

Pink & Whites!!!! get him to fill a suitcase of those little 2.5 syn lovelies!!!

Oooh I agree, Pink & Whites are nice :) only 2.5 Syns!!

Pasta n Sauce's are good for green days. The tomato & herb one is syn free and nice.

Also the mild cheese & broccoli one is really nice at 0.5 syns. Haven't really tried any other flavours so couldn't comment on that.

I like the spicy thai mugshot (can't remember how many syns, sorry) and the tomato mug shot, good for a quick snack!

Batchelors Mild Curry Savoury Rice is delish and syn free!

Low syn crisps hmmm multipack french fries are 4 syns. That's the only crisps I eat these days! And I know doritos are 10 syns a pack.

Oh, and if you can't get Mikados over there, get your Dad to bring some of them :) though they are quite addictive!!!

Oooooh maybe curly wurlys for a 6.5 syn treat

We are quite lucky with those kind of items, as they stock them here in Canada.

I don't know if you have a Meijer (US supermarket) near you or a similar kind of supermarket but they tend to stock some UK stuff in their international aisles.

Chickpea dahl! I don't know what I'd do without it. It's so yummy and easy for days where I don't have a lot of time for cooking from scratch. Lovely with rice or chips. Fairly heavy as it's in tins but might be worth adding a few.

Alpen lights I love the choc and fudge as they taste like a treat for a HeB. The apple and sultana are super too. Lovely with FF and fruit.
