Hi all, i'm trying to make a list of my favourite and the most popular movie soundtracks (classical) and i was wondering if anyone wanted to share their favourites.

So far i have the following soundtracks:
  • The Transformers: Steve Jablonsky (my favourite soundtrack ever)
  • American Beauty: Thomas Newton
  • A Beautiful Mind
  • Gladiator
  • Shawshank Redemption
  • Amelie
  • Cast away
  • Forest Gump
  • The Piano
Most of the songs are from composers such as Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer and Steve Jablonsky.

Thats all i can think of at the moment.

If you have any favourites, feel free to add the to the list.

xx :)

Maybe Baby, I love Steve Jablonsky! OMG, what's your favourite on the Transformers soundtrack? Mine is a toss up between Scorponok and Arrival to Earth (Infinite White on the revenge of the fallen OST). The Gladiator soundtrack is perfection. I also love:

Danny Elfman (Batman Returns, Sleepy Hollow)
Klaus Badelt (The Promise)
Hans Zimmer (The Last Samurai, Kung Fu Panda)
Marius De Vries (Romeo & Juliet, 1996)
Christophe Beck (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, TV series)
Harry Gregson-Williams & John Powell (Shrek)
Tomoyasu Hotei (Kill Bill Vol. 1)
The score to A Chinese Ghost Story

Love my movie scores. It's unfortunate, Klaus Badelt's score to The Promise is really hard to get hold of...such a beautiful set of melodies. You should have a listen to the love theme on YouTube if you haven't already...stunning.

Hey hun, Steve Jablonsky is amazing, i could fall asleep just listening to him.

My favourites are the same as the ones you have mentioned. I found a youtube clip that combines the 2 with a piano cover and its just as beautiful. Here is the link:

YouTube - Transformers Soundtrack - Arrival to Earth & Scorponok / Piano

I also like 'Bumblebee Captured'.

Are you a fan of the film Transformers? I loved the first film, wasn't too keen on the second and i'm hoping the 3rd will be much better.

I will have a look at the movie scores you have mentioned.

I really like the score to 'A Beautiful Mind', its amazing. Heres the link to one of the songs incase you haven't heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2GS_a0GlGg&feature=fvst

I loved the first movie, not so much the second. I thought is was a little choppy in places. I saw the first one three times in the cinema, loved it that much! I heard they're replacing Megan Fox in part 3, don't know how true that is. That guy playing the piano is very talented, blended the 2 themes very well. A Beautiful Mind is a film that I'm going to have to see...have not seen it yet, but I love that piece.

I just remembered - Klaus Badelt also did the score to Pirates of the Caribbean and funnily enough, Steve Jablonsky has replaced Danny Elfman on the Desperate Housewives score, so he's definately coming up! I also think Ramin Djawadi is cool (Prison Break score).

I think Megan Fox is defo not in the 3rd, it was all over E News a few weeks back. I thought the 2nd film had too many special efffects all over the place and i couldn't work out the deceptacons from the autobots or what was even going on.

A Beautiful Mind is an amazing film, you have to watch it.

I'm still making my list of movies scores. I want to make a CD to help me relax, so i'm looking for soothing, calming and inspiring melodies.

xx

Do you listen to Imogen Heap (she was also in a group called FrouFrou)? I know she's done a few movie soundtracks, but I don't think she's done any scores. However, she specialises in making these really soothing melodies, using exotic instruments and her voice. If you haven't heard her, check out the instrumental Cumulus, definitely calming, and she played all the instruments herself, she records herself too, she's a real self-sustaining artist. Other good songs by her include:

Hide and Seek (just her voice/vocoder, amazing)
Just for now
Headlock
The moment I said it
Let go
