Sleep Apnoea

Lovely_Laura

Moooooo
Does anyone else have sleep apnoea? I've been on CPAP for a couple of years without much fuss. I look everso attractive at night.:p Recently though it just doesn't seem to be having the desired effect. I had a routine appointment on Monday at the hospital and told the chap I'd lost nearly 5 stone since the last check up and could it be making a difference. He said if anything it should be getting better and I should need it at a lower pressure which I assumed was the case too but it's getting worse! It's really bothering me because I'd hoped with losing weight that maybe oneday I wouldn't need it anymore but it's going the other way. He said perhaps I was mouth breathing without realising and gave me a chin strap to add to the attractiveness lol but it's made no difference the last few nights.

I'm wondering if anyone has it and that it's got better with losing weight. I'm still hopeful that oneday I can be without the silly machine though it doesn't seem like it at the moment. I'm going to ring up and ask for another study to see if I need the levels increased. I don't want to go back to the hellish years without proper sleep it's driving me mad already!

hubby has it and the machine.told him to loose weight but it hasn't made much difference but I yhink its the brandy before sleep that s at fault-he wont admit that of course.

My Hubby has a CPAP mask too. He has seen a specialist in London who is willing to take out his tonsils and do something with his nose (?) for a few thousand pounds!!! (we are saving)...keep pushing with your GP and the specialist that you see with the CPAP results and put your foot down that it isnt making any difference to you. Also tell them that its effecting your life with your Partner (if you have one) as they have to sleep in another room..Im just sharing my experience with you there on that one! He would also wake our Daughter up and she can sleep through a vaccum cleaner going around her bedroom!

Thanks for the replies, I will go back to the hospital and tell him the chin strap, though extremely attractive:8855:just isn't helping. It's not so much that I'm snoring now just don't seem to get the same level of airflow or my needs have increased. Who'd have thought it possible to become addicted to air!

No advise, but keep on badgering at consultants. I have other sleep issues and not getting quality sleep is awful.

Sorry to hear that queenie, there's nothing worse than missing sleep in my opinion. A few years ago before I got the machine I would fall asleep through out the day in a second. I once fell asleep sitting in a traffic jam, I was so scared when I realised how awful it could have been.

I hope your problems can be sorted out.:)
