Healthy extra's

Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Today my consultant was going through her own food diary and said that some days she didnt have her healthy extra's A. So she was able to take 6 syns off per day. Firstly I thought you were supposed to have your healthy extras? Secondly if you dont does it really matter? For the last week 4 nights out of 7 Ive had a glass of milk just because I hadnt had my A extra either, but thought I had to have it daily. Could this be a contributing factor to me not losing any weight this week?

Thanks

My consultant says you MUST have HExs. The calcium in HExA helps you to burn fat apparently. I have wondered about this when I have my cheese with an apple at bedtime on days when I haven't had my HExA especially when I have had loads of yogurt during the day.

We have been told we have to have the HEX's as it doesn't work as well if you don't. Sometimes I forget to have the whole HEX, for example i'll have half of my milk allowance and forget about the rest until the next morning and my jug of milk is still there. But it's my understanding that you do have to have them.

I really wish SW would make sure their consultants are singing from the same hymn sheet.

This is from the SW website

Q: Do I have to eat all my Healthy Extras every day?
A: It won't affect your weight loss if you don't take all your Healthy Extra choices. However, the Healthy Extra section is there to ensure a balanced diet, so from a health point of view we recommend that you enjoy all your Healthy Extras each day.

Mumof2 - I've no idea what your consultant is talking about being able to take 6 syns off unless she means eg if you buy a pre-prepared sandwich you can take off 6 syns if it has wholemeal bread and you take that as your HEB.

Twnkletoes - you don't have to have HEBs going from the above and the medical research on calcium and weightloss showed that it improved losses in people whose calcium intake was very low to begin with.

And Helen's consultant is wrong to say not having them will affect losses and that the plan won't work as well.

Honestly SW HQ - you need some quality control here!

I'm confused. If you don't have your HEX A, then you can take 6 syns off?

shes bending the rules. Most hex are 6 syns so she has decided to deduct it if she doesn't have it. I wouldn't advise it but maybe it works for her.
The old rule was that you didnt have to eat all your hex but SW do advise you to have them now.I suppose she is thinking the diet is healthy so its ok to skip them. Problem is that they contain essential vitamins/fibre.It may be ok now and again but I would prefer to have them.

I'd worry that it would lead to replacing healthy things such as calcium and fibre with syns like chocolate and wine. So whilst you're staying within your syns and probably losing weight you wouldn't be doing it in the most balanced, beneficial or healthy manner
